US Optics SR8 (1-8x30mm)

It may be that the technical artist was inferring both units of measurement are available.
It may be an error on that schematic that was not proofed by USO.
Dunno.

Yes, I noticed the MOA measurements on the MIL reticle schematics. IMO it’s stupid to measure a MIL reticle with MOA measurements.

If anyone is still interested in the US Optics SR8c DFP in CDMIL reticle (red dot version) I found where there were two left for sale (before I just bought one.) If you want this scope in this particular reticle this is one of the last few chances you will get. The reticle is being discontinued as you know (for the foreseeable future) but there will be one last shipment supposedly coming to finish off the run (I have no idea when or how many but that’s the word I got from US Optics directly two days ago.) Ressurecting and old thread but does anyone have more info on the src8-c?

Bigjimfish just finished his evaluation of it: http://www.snipershide.com/2013/12/bigjimfish-review-of-the-u-s-optics-sr-8c-1-8x27mm-scope-with-c2-reticle/

Definitely a good read.

This guy on TOS designed his own reticle for the SR8c and it is sweet, basically a mil-scale with ACOG like BDC. USO should pick it up as a factory option.
Apparently he had to order 10 for them to make it.

I have the USO SR8C 1-8 with my custom 3 gun BDC reticle. Here is the info on the scope.

This has the bright daylight visible red dot and a custom Mil Scale reticle with a BDC built in. BDC is calibrated for .223 using 77gr SMK @ 2720fps, but you can use other bullets as well. I have all the BDC information to make other loads work as well. You can also use the Mil reticle and dial your distance if you choose to. Red Dot is on the second focal plane and DOES NOT change in size as you increase the power. Also when you turn the red dot off it disappears completely, it does not have a black dot behind it to obscure the reticle. The Mil Scale reticle is on the first focal plane and DOES increase and decrease in size as you change the power of the scope. You can use the reticle like a regular Mil reticle but this one has hash marks every 0.5 mil to make ranging targets more precise. Or you can use the BDC for quick shots out to 800yds. BDC includes wind hold overs for 2.5, 5 and 10 MPH wind. The red dot is centered on the scope at the 200 yard mark. At 1 power the reticle almost disappears and the bright red dot stands out, Excellent for fast up close shooting. When you increase the power the reticle shows up nice and clear for those long shots.
This scope comes with std zeroing caped knobs in 0.2 mils per click and 9.6 mils per turn.

Scope on 8x Dot On Brightest setting, Sunny Day

Scope on 8x Dot Off

Scope on 1x Dot On on a Sunny day in Southern California

To answer some of the questions some of you have about the New Uso 1-8 scope. The pictures I took are not very good. It was hard trying to take a good picture through this scope. But I assure you when you look through this scope is very clear and the red dot is centered and very bright during sunny days.

Cat Tail is available from MGM Switchview. Get the one that measures 1.819 and ask for the extra long screw. It works perfectly on this optic even with 270 degree angle.

The field of view of this scope at 1x may be less that some other scopes out there. But if you mount this scope forward like with the Larue SPR E mount, you get the correct eye relief and at 1x feels like you are shooting an Aimpoint scope. I shoot with both eyes open and I can engage multiple close targets very fast. This is a true 1x power optic. There are other optics out there that might have a larger field of view but some are NOT true 1x. I’ve shot the Swaroviski Z6i 1-6 and Leupold 1-6. The dot on the Z6 and Leupold are not nearly as bright as the SR8c and the brightness of the dot is very important to me when shooting fast at close targets on a sunny day.

The custom mil reticle with the BDC came out perfect. At 1x you barerly see the reticle, so you don’t have lines or circles to obscure your view or distract you. When shooting at close targets you want just a bright red dot in the center. But when you need to engage targets at longer ranges and you increase the power the reticle grows and shows up in your glass nice and clear.

If anyone have any questions or would like to see this scope in person send me a message. I live in Long Beach, California

Man that is sweet!
So the center of the reticle would correspond to 100yds when the red dot is zeroed at 50yds .5 mils down?

Jerry the way this reticle works is you zero your rifle at 100yds at the cross hairs. The red dot is at the 200 yd mark which is approximate 0.5 Mil down. This way your red dot will be zeroed for 50yd and closer

I’m really torn between this scope and the MK6 offering from Leupold for my 16" LMT MWS. I like the 8X capability since 700-800 meters is all I can accurately get out of the weapon with factory 155 grain AMAX which is my favorite short-medium range man stopper.

However, the distortions at high magnification and the limited FOV that Bigjimfish documents really seem to limit the usefulness at high magnifications. It really begs to question are you better off at 6X with less distortion and a bigger FOV? Then, you factor in weight, size, eye box, etc. and you start to wonder if the extra magnification is worth it.

I have 10 of these SR8c scopes and none of them have any distortions. The glass looks sharp at 8x on all of them. Some of the pictures i took appears to be blurry because it is really difficult to take good pictures through this scope, specially at max power.

I’m referring to the linked review on TOS by BigJimfish. It is possible that he got a lemon, but this is mentioned by other users as well. I’m sure the USO will post a reply to his review in the next few days.

Just picked it up today, US Optics SR8c. I’ll get it setup and sighted in this week, maybe take it out to 500 next weekend. I’m loving the true 1x and the super bright red dot.

Sorry for the crappy phone pics, I’ll get some better ones this week.

Shot the USO SR8s on LMT L7 MWS yesterday. Shooting conditions were superb. Shot M118 ammo.
Had 2 other experienced Vet contractors out all shooting this optic @ 250 & 600 yds. Both commented the glass was superior to a Leupy MK4 M1 3.5x10x40 we were using as well. There was zero distortion at any mag range observed & all Vets were impressed w/ optical clarity & precision of Ret. It is a far better scope than some in the reviews are saying is all. If you get a chance shoot one & judge for yourself.

Voodoo, has USO changed the optical design recently? The sample models on the floor at shot show had really bad field curvature, giving a nasty fisheye effect most noticeable at 1x.

Other than that, I really like the scope.

Don’t know the answer to that. Mine has no curvature or disceranble distortion. The other two contractors said same. FG from SH said he felt that the USO won the 1x8 battle between Leupy & S&B. Not an easy accolade. I did not find any of the complaints that Big Jim Fish did on his review. Perhaps QC issues don’t know. What I do know is if it’s does’t work right I won’t run it or use it. While it’s not as small as the NF 2.5x10x24 I run a few of, we all felt the image o USO was as clear as NF & we were getting consistent 10X ring hits from our Pez dispensers all day using it.

This thread just got a lot more interesting. Thanks.

I am now very interested in this scope.

I also thought it would be worth adding that the same 8,000+ hour battery life in the new 1-4x that USO is releasing is also present in the SR-8C. That’s absolutely incredible, and as someone who supremely values battery life, has pushed me into the SR-8C camp.

This is directly from Wes at US Optics, which makes me assume that the 100-hour life listed on the website is NOT correct (most likely copied from their other optic descriptions, which do actually have a 100 hour battery life).
