So, after 30 years of the familiar three-color pattern we now have a four-color pattern. The paint (and maybe the pattern) is called TALON. So is this new paint job more better in the area of concealment?
Honestly just having everything in woodland and not a mix of that and desert would be a better start.

So the new color added is a grey green - vaguely like the Wehrmacht uniforms?
It almost looks like someone is planning on a fight in Eastern Poland or the Baltic forests.
It almost strikes me as something to add to already painted three color tactical vehicles during a slow week.
So it is thermal and near-Ir camo, and it is 75% cheaper- or cheaper from the original design? Considering that the use of the 1970s era cobalt based pigmentation is still going strong, I just don’t know what to think of this announcement.

Idk. Looks like NATO Woodland 1. I only see 3 colors, but that’s a lot better than having tan vehicles running around outside the desert.

IIRC, the original three-color pattern was actually designed by Germany and then adopted by the US and some other NATO countries.
Please tell me they get painted according to terrain and there isn’t a “one pattern fits all” vehicle camo.
The most effective camo in the military is the Navy blue digital. Fall off the boat, and they’ll never find you.

Soldiers don’t paint vehicles. That stuff goes through civilians.
I wish it were that simple. At least 1/3 of our motorpool in Hawaii was tan. Color of the vehicle doesn’t seem to be a consideration when equipment gets shuffled around and the process to get the color fixed was very long. Even then, they were just painted green.

The way it used to be is that vehicles came from the factory in NATO. There was actually an FM with the patterns for different vehicles to show how it’s laid out if the shops had to repaint something. CARC is an epoxy that is sprayed on, horrible, nasty shit. So what happened is vehicles in Europe and a lot in CONUS ended up getting painted Forrest Green because it was paint, not CARC and could be done at the unit level. Especially with older vehicles that had the patterns from the 70’s. Once we started going to the desert, the vehicles were painted with TAN paint at the unit level until they got contractor teams out to repaint stuff in Tan CARC for DS. After that, TAN became the default color for a bit, things go sprayed with Forrest Green when a unit rotated out of the ME.
OEF/OIF caused this bullshit of painting everything CARC Tan and the Army never bothered to repaint stuff for the AO. This is finally beginning to change with the complete emphasis of Iraq gone.
