Uplifting experience with today’s youth

My son has always been a history buff and wanted us to go with him to a WW2 reenactment event in Linden, TN. Some spectators dress up in 1940’s attire, which my wife and I did. My son found an authentic WW2 USMC class A uniform that he wore. Anyway, they had both US army and German soldiers there with respective camps, equipment, vehicles, etc… and conducted two battles right in town. The amount of young men from mid teens on up along with young women in supporting roles was staggering. Young men chanting “USA” after the battle was awesome. There were WW2 veterans present who spoke of their experiences. They had a USO show afterwards and then a big band and swing dancing on an open dance floor later. So many young people really getting into it all. The amount of patriotism, deep interest in history and really good, wholesome fun was something to experience. We made some friends and my son made connections to join one of the reenactment groups.
