Troubleshooting Noveske Switchblock Upper

Hey guys! Over the last few years, I’ve owned several Noveske uppers and I’ve never had any problems with them until now.

In this case, it is a 10.5" light shorty with a Switchblock and it has feeding problems when I’m rapid firing with a suppressor attached. The main issue is a double feed - which I would assume is a magazine issue, but I have a couple of 20 round PMags that both seem to have the same problem. Also, when I put those magazines into another rifle, they work fine.

Occasionally, I also see an issue where a round fires and the next round doesn’t quite make it into the chamber. In that scenario, the failed round gets crushed and is unusable.

This lower has an H2 buffer and I’m thinking about trying an H buffer to see if it makes any difference. I’ve also been focusing on keeping the bolt plenty wet when I’m using it.

Anyway, any suggestions on troubleshooting would be appreciated. I’d like to figure out what’s up with this little rifle - it’s a blast to shoot, but I need it to work more reliably since I use it for suppressor demos.

The 2nd problem you describe sounds like a bolt over base malfunction. That’s where the bolt carrier is outrunning the magazine. You can compensate by trying a “red” Sprinco action spring, and a DPMS heavy buffer (5.4 oz) but it might not run unsuppressed.

I had similar issues with my Noveske 12.5" and a suppressor that I have not had with my Daniel Defense 12.5".

You might also consider a Vltor A5 buffer system.

Your best bet is to contact Noveske.

In fact, on matters that you hope to resolve, the forum requires it before posting.

Thanks.
