TRINIDAD, Colo. — Police in southern Colorado say they thwarted a school shooting plot by two teenagers, one of whom idolized mass shooters, just a week …
Don’t Bogart that joint my friend,…Pass it over to meee!
Colo is too consumed in their own Purple Haze! Just Chillaxin, smokin a bowl!
I thought all of the gun laws were supposed to make sure that there would never be any more violence? The laws must not be working. Obviously we need more…
You know as trendy-liberal as most front range Coloradans are, Im wondering what the deal is with CO and school shootings. Seems to be pretty frequent…
What is wrong with kids these days where they think the answer to the challenges of high school is to shoot up the place? Definitely need a new coping strategy.
I’ve pondered this as well but without living there it’s a little bit more difficult to discern. My guess is that the whole school shooting phenomenon is so woven into the collective fabric and consciousness of Colorado culture and society that it’s become pervasive enough so as to dominate antisocial plannings of would be homicidal individuals.
Maybe the actual problem is an unholy mix of California transplant passive-aggressive-revenge-fantasy mixed with Colorado’s traditionally rugged individualism and access to weapons.
General observation on my part; it seems to be that many on the far left routinely deal with their negative emotions by lashing out, sometimes violently. Those on the “conservative” side seem to deal with their problems in other, not necessarily less problematic, ways (like drinking, spousal abuse, etc). I always found it ironic that it appears that those who go on these spree shootings seem to be huge supporters of gun control, and liberalism in general, often militantly so. Then, when it happens, they are immediately labelled as far-righty gun nuts and disowned by the people they adamantly supported.
I have often wondered if some of the arguments I’ve seen come from the pro-control side are not just extreme forms of projection. For example, “You can’t just let everyone carry a gun; there will be shootouts over getting cut off on the highway or stolen parking spots!” I’m pretty sure just about everyone here who routinely handles firearms and can recite the four rules by memory find this statement both offensive and patently wrong. But I think those who make it say it because THEY actually think this is what THEY might do in the heat of the moment. And, because they are the center of their own little universe, whatever THEY might do means that, obviously, everyone else is just as guilty of having such terrible thoughts.
