Trigger guard removal

I have a LWRC M6A2 and Im trying to put a Redi-Mag on it. I used an allen wrench for the front of the guard and removed the screw, but I cant get the guard to a 90 degree angle to place the Redi-mag over the magwell. I tried to use a hole punch and a mallot to gently tap out the coil or whatever it is to remove the entire guard, but was unsuccessful. I would appreciate any insight you guys can give me.:confused:

The pin on the front of the trigger gaurd is actually a spring loaded detent, and as such can not be pushed from one side out the other. It simply requires a gentle push while pulling down on the front of the trigger gaurd. The rear pin can be driven out, from one side to the other, but be carefull to not break the ā€œEarsā€. Use of a bench block is highly recomended. I hope this was useful.

Thanks for not posting this 2 months ago! Just kidding.

@OP

If you used an Allen wrench on the front of the guard… what kind of trigger guard do you have on the rifle? I have a Magpul trigger guard that has an allen screw in it, and to remove it completely, you need to take out the pistol grip screw and it will slide out the top of the grip (like a tongue and groove). Be mindful not to lose your safety detent spring once you pull the pistol grip. Also, be mindful putting it back together to not bend that spring. Oh, and if you ever have to spend an hour looking for that spring in the carpet… let me know, I’ll have a laugh with you.

Thanks for your insight gentlemen. I do believe it is a Magpul guard. I’ll give it a try tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Guys, I went to take off the MIAD grip but I cant quite tell what type of tool I need to remove it. Does the removal of the MIAD require a larger size allen wrench?

Interesting. My MIAD came with a flat head screw. Unless the person who installed it used the old Hex that came with the original grip. Is it a used gun? I can’t recall what size hex it was, but it should be readily available.

Hope that helps.

New gun. Never before have I wished Lowes of Home Depot were 24/7:p I appreciate the headsup on the springs.
Thanks again for your help guys.

I broke an ear on my pistol build. It’s a fun gun anyway so I’ll just throw one of those new Stark grips on it to cover my mistake.
