Hey guys - first post here on the new BB. Still getting my bearings lol.
I have a buddy who lives in the Fairfax area. Very new shooter. I got him into his first pistol and now he’s picked up an AR and man does he want to get training.
I’m in southern New England area so am not plugged into NoVA. Are there some trainers in the area who can ease my friend into pistol and carbine? I’m not sure he’s ready for a 2 day format - might be easier wiith a 1 day.
Thanks in advance…
Matt Jacques from Victory First is up that way…
Mike Greene’s company Green Ops runs four hour blocks of instruction at the NRA Range in Fairfax. Their schedule says they are offering a 4.5 hour Basic Pistol Fundamentals Class at the NRA range on February 9th. They offer a 4.5 hour Defensive Carbine clinic on June 8th, at the same location. Your friend would need to have zeroed his carbine before this class. They can actually help him with this if he contacts them before the class.
I’ve trained with Green Ops taking a 1 day red dot pistol class down in Texas a couple of years ago. Mike and his cadre were quite excellent. What’s also good is once your friend has eased into the these basic classes, he can continue training with them in ever increasing skills classes. I Highly recommend.
There are two excellent state of the art ranges in Ashburn, Silver Eagle Group, and XCAL Shooting Sports and Fitness. I’ve been to both facilities several times. I’ve not taken any training with them, but I know they offer basic classes for beginners. They might be worth checking out.
Hope this helps. Best of luck.
Fairfax Rod and Gun Club hosts a basic AR15 class. It is geared for new shooters to the platform and is far from high speed or intimidating.
Thank you gents - this is very helpful.
On top of the ones mentioned, there’s Adam at Open Arms who often teaches out of Shadow Hawk’s facility.
