Took my oldest daughter to the range today

We shot at Range 1 on Quantico, 200 meter. I wanted to start her at 25 but no luck…

I did a lot of snapping in and weapons safety classes the past couple of weeks. Today we focused on sight picture, sight alignment.

She was a happy camper.

End state:

I’m proud of her, it’s the beginning of her relationship with rifles.

Good for you!

I too was at the range today and the gentlemen beside me brought his daughter and her friend to the range. I also saw a few other families all together.

It doesn’t get much better than that!

she gotta boyfriend?

Not yet, just the typical high school freshman drama stuff.

When she does get a steady, I plan on taking him to the range also with his parent’s permission…gotta tell him the facts of life from my perspective:D

‘Son I got a shotgun and a shovel…I doubt anyone would miss you.’

fantastic way to introduce yourself to the lad.

ever heard that one song? goes something like “go on and have fun with my daughter tonight- but dont worry about being quiet when you get her home, i won’t be sleepin. be up all night cleaning this here gun” or some such?

Yes…but I think I’ll let the lad watch her shoot and then allow him to clean the rifle afterwards while I question him about his intentions:D

I’m not in that boat… yet, as my daughter is only 2yrs old but come on… what were your intentions at that age? Lock her up, boarding school, military school, All things I’m considering… F-ing nightmare.

Truly great you took her out to the range. Great to see families, especially nowadays, sharing and enjoying common interest. Don’t forget this when she asks you to take her to some britney spears or hanna montana concert…

Funny that you should bring that up…she wanted to go to the Britney Spears concert last month…$500 USD a ticket:eek:

When she was younger I stressed critical thinking with her, do far, as far as I know, she’s doing good but the book is still being written.

WHAT? That from the box office or some scalper?

RO,

It looks like a nice memory to hang onto.

I have a few of those myself.

good on ya

if she looks anything like her mother you are a lucky man.

Good for both of you! I’m glad you are teaching her good habits. That trigger finger is staying safely away from the loud switch. I am guessing Dad has spent a lot of time on a Marine Corps range himself.

My daughter is 17, and has been shooting pistols and rifles for about 10 years now. She has “her own” Walther P22, and really enjoys shooting Dad’s AR’s.

She’s getting her own BCM/LMT carbine when she turns 18. Until then, she gets to shoot it and clean it, but not own it.

Wait till your young lady tells her friends at school how much fun she had, and shows off a few targets. Nothing like instilling a little respect into the prospective boyfriends.

Good memories for both of you. Trust me, she will remember that for a long time.

this post is useless without pix.

Roger that…

My oldest daughter will be 6ys old in July. Shes only watched dad shoot so far, Ima’ thinkin’ its time for her to get a little trigger time, maybe behind the Rem. 597 or something… Or maybe we should stick to pellet guns for now, Im anxious to get her involved.
Looks like you guys had fun, good for you.

By the looks of her smile, you guys had a good time.

Spending quality time with your kids is the #1 way to keep them out of trouble and instill your values.

Pictures of my daughter, or of the groups she shoots? Both are impressive.

As is her daddy’s ability with a backhoe.

Hmmmm - ponder the cost of feeding a pellet gun. I was in Cabela’s today, and they wanted $20.99 for a 525-round box of Federal bulk-pack .22 ammo.

So a nice pellet rifle is sounding real attractive right now.

You aint kiddin’ man. I just bought a new pellet gun(Gamo CFX) over the winter. Its a little long for her, but the sheridan works pretty good. I gotta pump it for her though…

She looks so proud in the photos. God bless you and your family.
