Thoughts on new trigger

I agree, the little tube of grease is a nice thought !! I know for sure, after first pulling the trigger and it felt pretty decent, after the grease it felt much better !!!

Thanks for the link to the other thread, I’m not entirely sure how I missed that yesterday. Again, I clearly mistook your original post and have been quickly corrected on it. Thanks for taking the time to answer/respond to my question.

Thanks for stopping by to discuss your triggers. I love my DMR.

Folks, like the man says, if you have a question or problem, give him a call. 610-272-2060

I bought my SSA from Larue and it did not come with directions/maintenance info or lube, so I just called Geissele and the lovely lady there said she would email the directions/maintenance info “immediately” and if I emailed her back my address she would get the lube in the mail to me ASAP:D Can’t get better customer service than that!

Yep, There’s more than one way to 'reach out and touch someone".

Phone and email are good too!

So OneUp,

Have you put any more rounds thru it yet? If not, post back when you do and let us know how it’s going.

I think you might have me confused with the OP, but I have not yet pulled the trigger (pun intended) on the SSA. I’m still trying to figure out if I’d be best served sticking with the GI trigger or going with the SSA for a non-bench gun. I don’t want to trade the reliability of the USGI trigger for a marginal improvement in feel. Most reviews seem to say that’s not the case, but then I read about special grease, don’t use KNS pins, etc and it starts to sound less like a combat trigger and more like a finicky (there’s that word again) match trigger.

No, I received a reliable 2-stage trigger adjusted to 4 lbs. I wish that the 1st stage pull was longer but, that is a personal preference. The hammer lights off 5.45x39 to boot . I don’t have to wonder when will it break like some 2 stages or is it going to start doubling like many, many worked over single stage triggers( not me but a friend). I have a better match trigger, but the loctite screw inside does not give me a reliable feeling. Loctite is fine on a range comp gun but, my carbine is a defensive weapon requiring RELIABILITY and I do not think anything lower than 4 lbs belongs on a semi.

I installed and assumed it was lubed b/c of some colored spots on it But went ahead & put some CLP here and there and some TW25 here and there and I think its brilliant. My first Multigun Shoot with it I came in 3rd in the Rifle/Pistol section.I was using an N4 Light Basic with Aimpoint against everyone else’s rifle length race guns with powered optics so I was very pleased and believe the trigger helped my shooting immensely! My single stage mil trigger was long heavy which I can deal with but the the creep was so bad (3 bad spots) it would trick me into thinking it was going to break on my longer shots and I would have to double stroke the trigger. Really annoying. 2nd competition with it will be this Sat:)

I’ve currently got SSA’s on 3 of my carbines. I could claim how good it is but would only by repeating what has mostly been said. I’ve spoke with my money. In the past I’ve had RRA, Springfields, and Jard’s, all of which I now own zero. I still use an JP single stage on my precision AR and have considered switching it out for an appropriate Giesselle but am not sure there’s any reason to on that rifle. I am even considering buying one for my issued full auto if the powers that be will allow it.

I’ve had some minor issues with 1 of the triggers that frustrated me. I never did call the maker as I thought I resolved it. I have one that the hammer pin kept walking out. I removed it and all looked right, reinstalled, same issue. It was kind of frustrating for me because I couldn’t seem to make it right. I’m not even sure that there was/is any issue with the trigger assembly. It could be the lower, which is my oldest, an early 1990’s Bushmaster. Anyway, I bought a set of KNS pins and it’s been running for the last 1500 rounds without incident. This thread had made me think my fix is wrong and I might need to re evaluate and adjust fire.

My bad OneUp,

I did mean LMT42.

Amy Geissele emailed all the installation and maintenance info to me same day and I got this email today from Amy…

"Thanks for the kind words…we are shipping out all the supplies that you need today. Once you get everything let us know if you have any other questions or if you need anything. Thanks and have a great day!

All handled within 24 hours!

And the missing info sheets and lube was not even Geissele’s doing it was the mistake of the distributor I ordered from.

Today I just installed a SSA, and I am glad I did it. Previously I had a LMT 2-stage on a Defender2000 lower, and it was very good trigger already. The pull was very clean and light. However, after installed a SSA, I thought SSA feel much better. I had a reservation at first to install a SSA, but when it’s all and done. I should have this trigger all along. This is a trigger for your go to everyday gun.

Also, someone has concern will SSA work with a KNS Gen 2 Non-Rotating Trigger/Hammer Pins. Not to worry, this fit perfectly on KNS.

Those look like Gen I to me. They worked for me but I will heed what the manufacturer said. He knows more than us about his products.

you don’t need a “special grease” that’s just the lube that GA has determined to work best and they’re nice enough to give you some. You can use any lubricant.

Just like you don’t “need” slip2000EWL for lubing up your BCG and can use Break CLP but lots of people have the opinion that the EWL works the best.

Nothing finicky about the trigger as far as lube goes

Im thinking you forked up the instal. Have someone else that knows what it should feel like, pull it and let you know. It may just need a little tweaking.

Here is the deal on non-rotating pins

Geissele SSA pins are 0.1550" dia +/-0.0001
Holes in the trigger can be 5 tenths over Geissele pin size
Kns pins are either .154 or .1555. So they are either too loose or just about a metal to metal fit in our triggers

Geissele pins are chrome-moly steel that is rough turned, rough ground, heat treated and then centerless finish ground. They are a quality pin.

Why do we not recommend KNS pins? One is that they are the wrong size. Can the smaller diameter pins work? Yes, but they are not the intended size and there can be a 'softer" break to the 2nd stage with them.

But the biggest reason is that the KNS pins are soft. Sometimes when they are installed they pull up a burr that causes havoc with trigger operation. I get calls from frustrated customers where they are totally disappointed in their SSA because it either feels terrible or it hangs up. I spend all kinds of time on the phone wracking my brain trying to figure out what is going on and trying to work the customer through the problem. Finally, I ask the customer to send the trigger in (which I hate to inconvenience the customer with) and the issue is that the KNS pins are jamming the trigger up.

Yes, our website is a total mess. We have a new one almost ready but I would rather spend time in the shop. We doubled our manufacturing floor space in Dec and am still getting everything set up. BTW - the company has a Facebook page if you guys want to check us out.

I hope this helps, guys. Don’t ever hesitate to contact me if questions come up.

I’m spoiled by my SSA. I want one in all my ARs now.

I quality trigger is worlds apart from a rough and gritty USGI. Nothing wrong with a USGI trigger but given the overall cost of a quality carbine an extra 160 for an SSA is a bargain.
