I was thinking of getting a Noveske 10.5 I know that noveske is top quality, i was just wondering who is running these types of rifles and if you guys think they are worth the trouble. Also was wondering if anyone has run them in any classes. How did they do? How is recoil difference? Just trying to look at all angles before I take the plunge. Already ordered the lower today and trying to decide if I want to file the papers for it.

I’ve had one that I use for duty/SWAT, I also have a 16 inch rifle. The 10.5 is my favorite. No issues. Use good ammo/mags and you’ll be gtg.
I have a Noveske 10.5 with the switchblock. I did not like the weight of the KX3 flash suppressor. I switched it for the KAC triple tap. With the triple tap the muzzle rise is pretty much eliminated and it is easy to control.
It is significantly louder than a 16 inch barrel.
I have been running an assortment of ammo through it ranging from 52 to 75 gr. I have tried Black hills, wolf, PRVI, Walmart Federal bulk, Hornady Tap Training ammo everthing has functioned fine.
If I were going to do it again I would get the 12.5 so that I could use an AAC SPR/M4 on it.
I was just going to say. I have an LMT 10.5 and love the length and overall convenience of carrying it in front passenger side of the car.
But, I do have to say that an 11.5 or 12.5 will beat up suppressors less and give you more options for rail systems such as the midlength URX II and other 10" rails. But those considerations are only if you ever intend to run items like that.
There are 9 and 9.5 length rails for free floating.
One of my SBRs is a Noveske barreled 10.5" upper from Wes at MSTN with the 9" LaRue tube over the gas block. This is my favorite upper by far, as it’s light, handy, accurate and very attractive. It was worth the trouble, every bit and then some.
It is also an excellent platform for one of my M4-2000s.
While I have not run it in a formal class, I have been using a very similar Mk. 18 upper for the last year in Afghanistan and kept it set up exactly like my Noveske from Wes. I can’t think how I would improve upon the upper as it is.
Thanks for the replies guys. I really want one for a few reasons. Some were mentioned like the use a car. I didn’t even think of a 12.5 which I might check out now also. I want to eventually get a can too, which was a reason I might have stayed away from the 10.5.
I am just wondering and want to ask you guys because a lot of you have them, have you ever had any dealings where the BATF has come knocking to see your weapon? Lots of people are worried to get that stamp because of the thing with that issue. My response to their warnings were simple, I personally don’t have one single illegal thing in my house so I could care less if they want to check out my stuff. So are there any negatives I might have missed? Thanks again for replies.
eh? you don’t sacrifice your 4th amendment to own an SBR… they can no more enter your property than any other time, nor would they want to, i’m sure.

No, I have never dealt with any ATF agents outside of work and of all the friends and associates I have that have NFA items none of them have ever had a visit. They’re not going to come knocking on anyone’s door without a very specific reason to.

You’ll hear various arguments - some theoretical, some quite real, and some that are somewhere inbetween - on why you ought to go with 11.5 or 12.5. A slightly longer barrel gives you more options for suppressors and suppressor/rail combos, and in theory produces a less finicky gas system as the dwell time is longer.
I don’t know about the theory, but in reality I can say that my 10.5" factory LMT SBR has been 100% reliable so far and consistently outshoots my 16" Colt. I am not nice to any of these guns and don’t clean them after each use. The short barreled gun gets dirtier, faster but it still runs fine as long as you keep it lubed.
Internet folklore and general bullshit as far as I can tell. They could not care less and won’t even call you, much less knock on your door, just because you have NFA items.

Here is my next question or problem. I want to be able to slap a can on this sbr that I am going to build. I want to get build a full noveske sbr, but I am not sure which upper I should get so that later I can put add the suppressor. I am guessing I do NOT want to get one with a KX3 on it. Would I be right? Thanks
The suppressor you purchase will come with or require a mount that is also flash hider or break specific to the suppressor. Usually the suppressor mount is attached with rockset or locktite. The KX3 is not a big dollar item, but it probably won’t get used much after you install the suppressor mount.
Noveske sells complete SBRs.
You can submit the paper work on the SBR and the suppressor at the same time.
I just picked up my Noveske 10.5" low profile shorty SBR this Friday (03.12.10) from my class III dealer.
Haven’t had the chance to shoot it yet, but looking forward to it. One thing I did note was the weight. It’s heavier than I expected it to be… Significantly heavier than my 16" platform.
