Having spoken with pro-Russian Ukrainians/Ukrainian separatists, not only would I not put it past them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually condoned such as pro-separatist propaganda.
I’ve not spoken with any nationalist Ukrainians, but the Putinist Ukrainians at least seem to view statism in a positive, desirable light that would completely blow away the most authoritarian Democrat or RINO, propaganda as not only a useful tool but a positive force (their propaganda, of course, not Western propaganda - which includes any news coming out of any media outlet not owned and operated by the Russian government), swingtanzen ist verbotten, &c. The values of the Putinist rebels are completely at odds with those of any liberal democratic society - and they view the Ukrainian national forces as being the pawns of NATO in a cultural war against what they view as “Russianism”. To the point where they view murdering political opponents such as Nemtsov as being necessary, where they view nightclubs and fashion as Western decadence, and use the Orthodoxy of the church as both shield and sword against anything and anyone that does not serve the state.
That’s not to say that there aren’t fascists on the other side. But the Putinists appear to have openly embraced fascism.
They don’t hate us because of our freedoms. But they sure hate our freedoms and everybody in their own country who would like to have such freedoms.
