The national debt has passed $40 Trillion

Someone once said that something that can’t go on forever won’t. I believe that’s true, but this has gone way longer than I thought it would. I guess we’ll see. Republicans once cared but eventually figured out that caring leads to losing because the vast majority of the American people don’t understand or care. Slavery and involuntary servitude were once made illegal, but those who wrote the constitutional amendment didn’t have the foresight to include borrowing against future labor. Once politicians figured out that they could buy votes with the people’s future labor without much objection, it was all over. The federal debt per person equates to $116,754 including the illegals. 58.9% of working age adults have jobs. However, once you factor in the children and those who are retired, only 47.3% of the population works. That means that the share for each working person is actually $246,837. One way or another it has to be paid, so it will be interesting to see what happens. My bet is that it won’t be pretty.

I agree. This is scary as shit. Most retards are worried about Tik Tok or some brainless shit.

Over half of the mongoloid voters are busy focusing on stupid ass shit that pales in comparison to this mess.

I really think there’s some group of sick elites that want/need this country to collapse. They were fast tracking it with the illegal alien invasion but that got stopped. The un-accounted for billions being wired to God knows where is still sinking our asses.

What really concerns me is just how much of that money was fraud?

Like Our Governor told Waltz and Ellison, until you return all of the money lost through fraud during your time in Office, Don’t Come to Texas with any Demands.

While I agree that the left desires the collapse of our country, I don’t think this is something that was engineered with foresight. To the contrary, it’s just been ignorance and the path of least resistance. It’s kind of like a dog drinking anitfreeze. It tastes really good to him, but then there are consequences. Whatever happens, the left will not reflect on the cause and effect of their actions. For them, failure is always proof that more is needed.

Exactly. I remember when we used to look down our noses at countries like Mexico for being corrupt.

A sizable portion of it was straight up fraud, but the majority was simply giving people money/goods/services in exchange for their votes.

One thing to remember is that the debt doesn’t even include unfunded liabilities such as retirement plans for government workers that are not immediately due.

The only way to fix it is to go back to the old system where if you didn’t own a home or a business you just didn’t get to vote.

I will say this I do believe no one on Public Assistance should be allowed to Vote.

Yes. People need to have skin in the game. Otherwise, they’ll just vote to get the fruits of other people’s labor. They just don’t want to hear that Santa Claus is bad for them.

I think that there are two primary obstacles to getting people to understand how big of a problem the national debt is going to be. First, they literally can’t comprehend $40 trillion dollars. It’s like explaining to someone how big the Milky Way galaxy is. The human brain can’t comprehend traveling at the speed of light for 20,000 years just to get from one side to the other. Telling people their portion makes it more understandable but doesn’t mean they’ll care. Second, nobody living has suffered the consequences of a financial collapse caused by the government not being able to make its debt payments. We don’t even really know what will happen. We do know that it will be bad, and we do know that leftists will do anything to fund their governmental desires, but that’s about it. Very few people can imagine it leading to violence.

My Grandfather was a Sharecropper during the Depresion, I mean they got married and the Market Shit the bed weeks later.

The competition to keep his job got pretty steep but, my Grandfather said he could more than keep up and add a Hog or three of his own. He said the the real money was in eggs, everyone wanted to barter for half a Hog or whatever, but they paid money for fresh eggs.

He said the only reason he got away with it was that he had the land and knew how to Farm it, he said he had no idea what people would do now. I agree, I got no idea.

Unfortunately it makes some sense from a government picture.

Spending now creates huge debts that would be untenable for individuals or businesses. They have no control on the value of “money” (different from wealth). The government does however. At some point it can correct its debt problem by devaluing currency using the tools of inflation and taxes. Inflation reduces the value of both debt and savings. The government has no savings, only debt so it’s an easy fix for them.

The problem is the rest of us use money to measure our wealth in savings. When the serious inflation hits our savings will get hammered. So far the voter anger that would generate has kept the government from “fixing” their problem. Also called “The Great Reset”.

Notice I said WHEN not IF. The level of debt all but guarantees it. Timing will be key. At what point does someone get out of money and convert to real wealth. Real wealth is limited as in there is only so much land, gold, etc. Everyone is in a race to grow their money so when converted to wealth, they end up with a bigger percentage (greed, a basic vice). Timing….

I’m old enough to kinda hope it doesn’t happen in my lifetime, but it probably will. I also hoped the malaise of communism of other madnesses of society would wait till I was gone. Sadly those make a twisted sense too from a population control viewpoint. Keep more people from reproducing (LBGTQ) and then start thinning the heard via wars and straight execution. Fascism at its core is authoritarian so it can maintain itself no matter what. Which is what communism and socialism devolves to. No dissent allowed.

Last I read over 60% of folks live paycheck to paycheck. Banks could all go tits-up tomorrow but if ya don’t have any money in the bank and low net worth it’s a hard sell to convince the aforementioned to give a shit.

Ross Perot was making a lot of political noise over the deficit/debt and outsourcing, predicting impending doom. 35 years later… the reality is doom has not arrived nor even an inconvenience. Unemployment is near record lows, interest rates are relatively low, taxes have been lowered, welfare schemes have blossomed and government has generally continued to grow in all areas. After 35 years…

While we can type on our keyboards how terrible and the precariousness of being $40T in debt (rightfully so), the general public sees warnings of national debt in terms of the Boy Who Cried Wolf for decade after decade after decade. Who can blame them?

When it comes it will come fast. There will be no convincing most folks until catastrophe smacks them upside the head. And there is literally no escaping it… not by anyone.

The worse part about it is that most will believe lies about what caused it and invite even more government into their lives.

People are just that stupid.

Roosevelt did exactly that, every program, every “Great Idea” simply pushed the date of Economic Recovery further away from actually happening.

Good thing after all of that “New Deal” we had a World War huh?

BTW if you look at the War Debt and add on the residual debt left over from the Depression you’ll begin to understand why Taxes were at so high a percentage rate in the 50’s andearly 60’s when it eased off.

Once we went off the Gold Standard the Wheels of accountability came off of the Bus.

The Funny thing about the economy in the United States, the more you let it alone, the better it tends to work and grow for everyone. Does it need guard rails yes but, not very many, just keep the consumer and the enviroment safe and you’re free to partake.

I think Regan demonstraited that.

Democrats and some Republicans (Like Nixon, remember “WIN?”) are famous for gumming up the works with another “Great Idea” when in fact you need to step back, take a few lumps you deserve and let the system rebalance itself.
