Terminal Performance of common Pistol Caliber Carbines

I am looking for information about pistol caliber carbines and how their terminal performance stacks up compared to one another and to intermediate rifle calibers. I am thinking 9mm would likely be one of the better choices?

I used to have Kel-Tec Sub2000 9mm and I remember it came with the ballistics chart, I don’t remember exactly the FPS but the energy at 15yrds was near that of a .357 mag at the muzzle. Couldn’t tell ya the .357 test barrel although the Subby is a 16in. I have a .40 Sub now but they don’t have the specs on that. In was wondering myself as it pretty handy.

There really is no difference between the bullet coming our of a 11" or 16" barrel and out of HG.

Point being that they will never do as well as a 5.56 will.

If we look at using a 16" AR in the home for defensive purpose, there are some limitations with it due to its size. So if I am going to pay that penalty, I want it in 5.56 and not in 9mm.

There was a lengthy thread on that topic not long ago. Should turn up on a search-fu.

While many frown on PCC’s here on M4C I have to say I like them for hunting, traveling and giving the kids something bigger than a .22LR to shoot without letting them burn through my .223 or 7.62

And to be totally honest if given a choice between a PCC or a handgun only I would take the PCC every time.
