Was finally able to get logged in and password reset.
But Tapatalk appears broken or deactivated.
99% of my m4c (and other forums) reading I use an Android tablet and tapatalk works exactly how I want a reader to work. Very fast to see what has changed, pop from thread to thread, etc.
I find the new M4C forum web interface busy/clunky on my PC and virtually unusable on mobile devices.
Sincere feedback:
30-40% of my desktop monitor is unused, wasted space
Many boxes and popups get in the way. I’ll see if there is a way to turn some of that off, but it’s intrusive and largely not helpful. (Most of the related topics are either not related or are ancient.)
Performance appears fine for me, renders quickly. PW reset, etc appears much more modern.
But ultimately, the tablet experience via web is so bad that I’ll be very unlikely to use it. Maybe if there is a tapatalk like client I’ll try it. (I’ll search for one before giving up)
Don’t mean to be a downer, but I’m pretty discouraged. M4C was one of the last forums I still frequented. 65grendel I quit using due to no Tapatalk support as well.
And admins, congrats on the migration. I’m sure it was a giant job, and I see many, many things moved across (Like post counts, etc). I don’t mean to call your baby ugly, it’s a user perception thing. Then again, working for decades in the computer world, the “reader is always right” rule does apply, even if we think it shouldn’t. Time will tell!
If I was a regular desktop/laptop reader I’d probably find less differences and some improvements with the new forum code.
So I’m going to give discourse a chance with the app.
