Taking up the slack or rattle in a MOE grip DIY.

I apologize in advance to the mods if this is posted in the wrong subforum ( please move to the appropriate subform if possible ). I have seen a few mods to MagPul MOE grips that involve silicone, RTV sealants, super glue, electrical tape and other mods. But if you’re looking for a cleaner solution that can be undone without any trouble you may want to try the O-ring mod.

Parts and tools needed for the job.
(2qty) 6.8X19mm {P7} o-rings
a small file

Step 1.
Use the file to make two small notches on each side of the MOE grip core cover. They do not have to be very deep, just enough to keep the o-rings from sliding off during installation and removal of the core cover. Try to make the notch as close to the center as possible. ( This step is optional, you can slide the o-rings on over the edges of the cover but the nocks or notches keep them in place when you need to access the grip core. )

Step 2.
Install the o-rings onto the core cover.

Step 3. You’re done, now snap on the cover. The core cover is now very secure and will not rattle.

If this mod had been discussed mods please delete.

Nevermind

I must be lucky. Mine doesn’t rattle. In fact, I can hardly get the damn thing out.

For what it’s worth drop a BCM PG in there problem solved …I’m loving the Mod 1 and absolutely no rattle

Nice solution though in case you have this grip and like the ergos better…

Is this your first AR?

I ask because this is the kind of unimportant stuff I used to worry about when I just got started some 3 years ago.

BTW i second the idea that you try the BCM gunfighter mod1 grip - I’m moving all my moe and miad over to go with the BCM grip as the angle and ergos are much better. Also the storage door on the BCM is rubber so you get zero rattle if you feel it bugs you.

This.

Seems like a waste of time.

If the “rattle” is going to betray your position to a deer or a bad guy, time for a magnified optic maybe.

Or go hunting in an area without mutant deer with giant ears.

While you are at it, I would also get something to coat your rifle in so it doesn’t get scratched.

The rattle in your grip is the last thing you should be worried about.

I actually appreciate the tip, that damn thing drove me crazy this weekend while deer hunting, I was about to wrap it with electrical tape. Rattles and squeeks drive me crazy! Just happen to have some o-rings in the tool box and will nbe giving this a try!

I had one of the early MOE grips and the bottom would just fall out of it when shooting… No biggie since I don’t put stuff in there.

The Gunfighter grip is the way to go, Jack.

That’s what I call ‘polevaulting over mouseturds’…
