Can the factory side-folding stock of a 107UR be replaced with a skeletonized version without modification of the receiver?Any suggestions?
Yes. It is a one pin operation - pin out, old stock off, new stock one, pin back in. Ensure you get the Bulgarian stock so it is the correct pin size. Just watch your 922 parts count - the polymer folder is a US part and the metal folder is a Bulgarian one.
Spooky
For parts count issues, most if not all of the 107ur’s come with h,t,s and pistol grip, handguards and buttstock. Now since this rifle in its original form has a 16" barrel and no muzzle device the above parts count is 6 US parts. So you could replace one US part with a foreign part.
Thanks for the clarification! But it is still advisable to watch the count - now we have the breakdown so don’t change two parts out!
Spooky
Now one of the things I changed is the followers on all my 7.62 AK mags to Tapco US made followers. Years ago Tapco had these at a discounted price in quantity so I got alot of them.
Have also purchased US made followers and floor plates for all my other AK mags as well. Both the 5.45 and 5.56 mags.
Now every single AK mag that I have has one US made part to go against the count. Also have extra pieces for new mags.
Now if I where to do this now at current prices with the quantity of mags that I have I wouldn’t do it. Too many and too expensive.
Thing is, if you are going to consider this as its very easy to do yourself, you must do it for each and every mag you have.
I am having In Range SBR the 107UR.Part count will no longer matter, will it?
Is the Bulgarian side folding stock the one you commonly see on krinks?
Correct on both counts. SBR = no parts count/922!
I received my 107UR today.I don’t like the stock.
I think it might take me awhile to adjust to an AK.I have several nice ARs.In comparison, these AKs seem very cheap.A lot of stuff rattles.
