i was wondering if any is running there plates? steeldefender.com
kinda heavy but they are afordable.
The problem with steel plates is that they deflect the bullet, which can sometimes head straight for your head or neck, or turn it in to shrapnel that can do the same.
That’s good point. Did not even think about that… What if you had soft body armor over over the steel plate?
If you bought a set of plate backers and set them in front of the steel plates you would be spending about as much as a set of ceramic plates. Check around your local craigslist and see if someone is selling a set of sapi or esapi plates, that’s usually the cheapest way to get in to armor.
I have steel alloy plates for a second pair used for training without live rounds. That’s the probably the best use for steel.
