Springfield Armory Custom Shop 10-8 Operator N FL

Up for sale is my Springfield Armory Custom Shop 10-8 Operator. These were commissioned by Hilton Yam from SACS in small quantities and each gone over by him before being released. I have the original box and think I still have the brown 10-8 logo Micarta grips it came with somewhere. I also have a Safariland 6280 in gray for this gun bearing an X300 which will come with it if you want it. I only put a couple hundred rounds through it, unknown how many through the previous owner. Runs like a top. This will be my last 1911 gone so I will look around and throw in whatever mags I find but it should have at least two CMC 10 rounders with the Tripp 9rd reliability kits in them.

This is from Hilton Yam about these:

"Just to address some of the common questions:

The 10-8 guns start with hand matched TRP slides and frames, and are then built by the smiths at the Custom Shop. The hand matching allows for a good slide/frame fit, short of using oversized parts that are machined and hand fit like the Professional. They are NOT TRP’s that get worked over, they are built from scratch. It is not correct to state that they are “just a TRP” or “just a MC Operator with some parts on it,” as neither the MC Operator nor TRP are built in the Custom Shop. By similar way of comparison, any custom 1911 could simply be called “just a Colt or Springfield with some parts on it.”

The 10-8 uses the standard TRP one piece barrel, while the Professional has a hand fit Nowlin match barrel. The 10-8 is finished in Armory Kote, the Pro in Black T.

The mag well treatment is the same on both 10-8 and Pro - a blank S&A mainspring housing is machine checkered, fitted to the gun, and drilled for the MSH pin hole. The 10-8’s feature a custom lanyard loop mod. A stock S&A that you’d buy from Brownells has cast checkering that is not very sharp or clean. A stock TRP has a 2 piece mag well. An MC Operator does not have a mag well.

The overall build quality of the 10-8 vs. the Pro is quite similar. I have owned, used, and had very large numbers of Professional Models pass through my hands, and I also personally inspect each and every 10-8 before they ship out to the customer. I have also worked on and owned numerous MC Operators and TRP models. I find that the 10-8 Operators compare more directly to the Professional than to the TRP and MC Operator.

I stand behind the build quality of each of these guns, and if I didn’t feel that they were truly excellent, I wouldn’t be doing these limited runs.

I hope that this clears up some of the misconceptions and answers some questions."
