Sling set ups.

So im putting the finishing touches on rifle number one and lo and behold ive overlooked a pretty important detail. Sling attachment. The problem is i know nothing about this , and from doing a quick search it seems there is an endless supply of push button-swivel-ambidextrous thingamabobs. Did i search on here and mostly found reviews on slings more so than the attachments points and combination’s thereof . A little about my set up now : Standard hand-guards , flip up fsb ,and a TI-7 stock.

I think ive decided i want a 2 point sling for the following : better weight distribution, wont hit me in the schlong if i have to ever do a transition from primary to secondary, and i think over all the utility of a two point is better.

That being said does anyone out there have similar set up as mine ? curious to see what others use as mounting and why, before i go crazy buying things.

I personally use either a BFG VCAS or VTAC sling. I attach the rear end of the sling with a either or QD on the right right side of the stock (i shoot right handed) and attach the front end sling on the left side of the rail close to the receiver.

However, if you are running standard HG, I would take a look into the Blueforce Gear UWL (Universal Wire Loop).
You can always attach to the FSB, it works…

id have to put it behind the hand-guard since i dont have a normal fsb , looks like a good idea though. Sry for the noob question but QD and a push button mount are different correct? why would i choose one over the other ?

Edit : it seems like a push button would be useful if i needed to quickly get my weapon off for whatever reason .

No, they’re the same. The other options typically are HK snap hooks or mash hooks. Problem is, you need some place to hook them. It’s problem if you have a standard forearm and no FSB.

Maybe you can mount a sling swivel to the barrel.

QD ring is a push button

We are big fans of the 360 QD Swivel mount from troy… Gear Sector also makes some really nice ones.

What we look for in a qd mount is that it wont let it rotate all the way around. If the ring can completely rotate it will cause your sling to become twisted.

I’ve used the Daniel Defense QD mount (both old and new) for years and never had any problems with my Vickers sling. They don’t rotate either. My original QD sling swivel is completely bare metal, not a trace of it’s original finish anywhere and it’s still hasn’t failed me. Good stuff.

So, you have a standard A2 round plastic handguard, then?

Try looking at the Mount N’ Slot site. They have some innovative hardware for that situation.

this is the one I run…

Thanks guys , i came across this http://www.blueforcegear.com/products/Band-for-M16-A1%7B47%7DA2-Forearm.html and was wondering if any one had used a similar setup. I think the rear will be a Troy quick detach. Still in the air about which sling but ive heard good things about the new Ares Armor huskey sling.

Ill check them out too , already using them for my flashlight mount.

Really good option that presents a lot of possibilities to those with standard handguards: http://www.blueforcegear.com/products/Blue-Force-Gear®-Universal-Wire-Loop™.html

Ive seen these around , do you like this option more so than the other one i posted? just curious as i haven’t seen either in person but the front handguard band seems more substantial than the wires. It may not be in practice but it does look like it.

Way more versatile, works on virtually on any part of your gun, no chance of melting regardless of where you put it…it’s a fairly complete solution for a lot of folks. If you can break a UWL, you were probably doing something you shouldn’t be doing with it, anyway.

One just needs to choose the size correctly.

hmm ill do some research thanks for the idea!
