slide release problem

I have a kimber pro carry II.
I changed all parts out with wilson combat parts.
now the slide release engages eash shot automatically with rounds still in magazine.

can you help.

Is yours a .45?
Is the slide stop a 9mm version?
The lug that catches the magazine follower is a little to long if it’s the 9mm in a .45.

I’m assuming it’s a Wilson slide release? Your thumb might be pushing it up, or the rounds themselves might be hitting the slide release internally.

Its a 45 and yes its a wilson slide release.

Pull it out and see if there are any marks on it from the ammunition. It’s worth a look…

Compare the slide stop lug on the new part to the old part and see if they have a different size and shape.

the first rule of “gunsmithing” is if it works don’t replace it!
put the old one back in- if it works then your problem is solved. It has been said many times but again rarely if ever is any parts for a 1911 a drop in fit.

just switched out slide release, with old one.

same problem. it will shoot 2 or 3 times then same problem.

You may need to have the slide stop fitted. you or a smith can put a dimple or rough the side in contact with the plunger to help it stay in pos.

How do the mags you use, seat in the receiver, as you probably replaced the mag release as well.
