Sweet, maybe you can talk Duane into making a rifle length MOE-SL for you!
I understand why it is done Mark but the life of me I cannot understand why you would do it today for any reason other than the look. What does it do that a KMR 15 wearing DD fixed front and rear sights doesn’t do lighter?
Longer sight radius is what its all about. Mark rings the bell at 500 with iron sights, so it matters to those shooters.
Durability of the sight. Same reason I’m begging DD to make some MK18 RIS II FSPs. So apes like me who break rail mounted sights can have a forged steel sight.
FSB is still pinned and still going to be stronger than a rail mounted sight. It’s all about different strokes…
Just curious as I have no real knowledge of how a “real” dissy works, why is this one better functioning? I am not questioning the work at all just do not know the history. I originally thought a CMR would look nice, but the more I look at it I think a C4 rail would be really nice on this.

The standard Dissy didn’t work because they took a rifle length barrel (and gas system) and cut the barrel down to 16". Things like dwell time were affected.
Here’s your Dissy with Centurion Arms C4.
Now that is nice, thanks for the lesson.

As IG said, it is all about the dwell time. The gas that drives the bolt carrier backwards happens after the bullet passes the gas port while the bullet is still in the barrel. If the bullet leaves the barrel too shortly after the port then pressure in the barrel is lost and there is not enough gas pressure to keep the BC moving backwards as it should.
The original Dissy by Bushmaster had a carbine gas under a rifle hand guard. This pre dated the middy system, and wasn’t optimal at all.
I forgot about those versions. Who made the other ones that were rifle gas cut down to 16"?
I’ve only seen customs cut that way. I’m not sure if they were manufactured by any companies like that.
I had a rifle instructor who had one like that. His worked good. But I’d much rather have real dwell time with the middy.
I think I just wet myself dreaming…
Does Sionics have SS barrels? I’m thinking 16" Dissi with a free floated barrel would absolutely obliterate the x-ring at iron sight carbine matches.
Exactly where this type of set up will kick butt. If I didn’t already have a similar carbine, I’d grab one of these.
…I don’t.
IG, what’s good in the hood? ![]()
Is there a reason why those who make dissipators use .750 for the gas block and FSB? Does anyone make a dissipator thats .625 all the way down?
We are currently doing some stainless barrels, but they are 18" for the PMR upper and the 2nd run of Axelson Tactical SPR’s.
Why would you want one? Why worry about weight if you are going to hang a pig on the end of the barrel?
Yeah you’re right. We should really be asking for an hbar dissipator. That would only make sense it you’re adding a big old heavy front sight base. Add more weight. It’s already going to be heavy.
