Should Bushmaster make a 14.5 M4 heavy barrel in 1/7?

I am conducting a poll for Bushmaster regarding the creation of a 1/7 AR-15 HB barrel line. Please let me know what your opinions are, and if in fact you would be a purchasing customer.
Additionally I would like to know how many of you would like for Bushmaster to return the fluting option for thier heavy barrels.
Thanks,

I would say the m4 1n7, but a hbar 1n7 with m4 ramps would be a comprimise. How about a middy?

I’m not a big fan of the HBAR but I would love to see a 1:7 twist, M4 extensions, correct front sight based barrel. Even if it was an HBAR I could send it to ADCO to have it turned down where I want.

I voted no. I like the idea of a mass produced 1/7 twist M4 barrel, but why heavy? I have no use for the added weight.

No, not in HBAR. Make 1:7 twist an option for all your barrels. Use correct FSBs on your carbines. M4 feedramps on your carbines too. MP test all your bolts too, but I guess that’s another thread. What’s with Bushmaster’s obsesion with HBARs?

Cheaper to produce.

That’s probably the real reason.

Unless it’s for customers who do lots of full-auto fire, I see no reason for the heavy barrel. I agree that more would benefit from M4 ramps and the 1x7" or 1x8" twist and a proper-height FSB.

I always thought that heavy barrels and fluting were for accuracy purposes. Also, is it not the intent of the M4 to be a “lighweight” fighting rifle? Easy on me guys, I’m new here so please educate me.:o

Your both right.
But full auto is not the only reason. Combat scenarios where high volume of semi auto fire occurs also heats a barrel to extremes.

a 14.5 in HBAR with a prem attached vortex-phantom cambered 556 with m4 feed ramps and mid length gas system, low profile gas block… I’d take 2.

I voted yes, even though I’ll probably never buy a carbine length gas system 14.5"+ barrel ever again.

I don’t see any purpose for a heavy barrel. It be a waste imho.

An HBAR no, a 1/7 SOCOM profile M4 barrel yes.

I have a 203 in my future so I need the cut.

I also don’t think HBAR is necessary. How about correct profile M4 feedramp MP tested 1/7 chrome lined barrel. Correct FSP is also requred.

My 0.02

Socom profile 14.5" M4 cuts with GL step 1/7" twist. I’d get that in a heartbeat, my 14.5" M4 profile 1/9" has served me well but is now toast from competiton and course use.

I vote NO

Bushmnaster needs to wake up, smell the coffee and get off the H-BAR wagon!

Several years ago we tried to convince them to make us 16", 1/7 twist barrels and the only way they would make them was in H-Bar profile!

I skipped that group buy because I wasn’t going to pay for barrel that I needed to send out to get re-profiled.

Hey Bushmaster, open your eyes and look at what your competitors are selling! Seems to me most of the quality manufacturers can barely keep the 1/7, chrome lined barrels in stock…

I bought one of those… I am much happier with my current LMT 14.5 1:7.
