The Secret Service apparently fired at him at some point, at what range did they fires and was that a handgun or a long gun? Its not real specific what exactly happened here.
This seems to be more an effort to make the News than actually shoot a POTUS.

I’m just sayng he would have been far more likely to succeed with a $700.00 off the shelf Deer Rifle and scope combo.
If you look at the pic real good. You can confirm its a SKS, Not an AKM style rifle.
To add a note, My sks’s (M59/66A1’s)are tack drivers compared to the 2 ak’s I have. 300 yards and the groups were very tight. so it could have been possible if the scope was dialed in right.
That would be with a good shooter and some sight system other than the standard irons. I was shocked at how difficult the AK is to get hits beyond a few hundred.

That’s been my experiance and I own two “Custom” Ak’s. Probobly great for ambushing a patrol, but by and large it can get pretty “Ify” at 250 yds. That and all AK’s have issues with optics.
Definatly not the tool of an Assasin.

I just see this guy as a distraction, I don’t believe it was an honest effort because of his weapons choice and selection of his sniper hide.
As I said, he could have and likely would have saved a lot of money going for an off the shelf rifle package with a rifle and 3x9 variable scope. If that’s where he was going that’s a cheap and effective way to get there.
But I dont think that’s where he was going. I think he wants his 15 minutes in the spot light, that’s all.
