I know sometime in the next 6 months Noveske is going to be doing a run of 16" and 8.5" 9mm barrels per a special request. I have one of their 8.5 and 5.5" 9mm BBLs and they are amazingly accurate.
Are these (the 16"ers) going to be cut for a FSB? If so .65" or .75"?
I would love to have a 8.5 for my Colt.
Same here. I’d appreciate a heads-up when the time comes.
Thanks,
Dan
I have shortened a bunch of colt 9mm barrels for people.
I’m not really a fan of the 1/2-36 threads through as they leave the barrel really thin.
I prefer 9/16-24 or 5/8-24 threads.
I still do 1/2-36 for people that want them though.
Any 1/2-36 muzzle device can be opened up to 9/16-24 threads and you end up with a much stronger thread junction that is not likely to stretch the bore like 1/2-36 threads do when crushing a crush washer…

A barrel as short as 5 inches won’t keep 115 grain subsonic… you still have to run heavy bullets if you want them to go slow. It’s worth it, though.
The sonic boom makes supressed 9mm sound like unsuppressed .22lr, in my opinion. Suppressed subsonic 9mm sounds like an airgun.
Anybody heard from Mark McWillis at TROS? I ordered a barrel from him (and paid for it) back in late January with an estimated 4-6 week turn time. Now I can’t get a response from the guy either by email or phone and still no barrel.
TROS has a great rep. I would try to get ahold of him again.
Got a response this afternoon…
In process now. Hope to ship this month.
It’s not as simple as it won’t keep em. i’ve had 115gr stay sub depending on weather/where shooting, and i’ve had the occasional 147gr pop on me.
What did he have to say? I ordered a 5" 3-lug from him 4 months ago!
Here’s his response.
I have a 5" 3 lug TROS 9mm barrel that I bought years ago for a project that never came to fruition.
It’s new and still in the protective sleeve.
If anyone wants it, I would sell it…
