Shooting is therapeutic

After spending a week and a half watching my father slowly die and working with the funeral home to make sure all the bases were covered I finally returned home after the service. I felt like I have been in a fog and when Saturday rolled around I knew I needed to get my mind off the world for a while. So I loaded up mags for my pistol and a 10.5 suppressed gun and headed out to my backyard range. I hung targets and then came up with my own run and gun drills. For an hour I shot paper and steel from various ranges and positions, sometimes running from target to target. When I was done I walked back to the house a little tired but refreshed and out of my fog.

As I side note- my father was a retired Marine, VN vet, Silver Star and Purple Heart recipient. His memorial service was on November 10th and the Marine Corps conducted a ceremony and presented the flag to my mother. His remains will be buried at sea by the USN. A very fitting end for an old warrior.

Thanks for listening.
