I’m looking for some eye protection. D/t the thickness and complicated prescription of my lenses, they tend to not work well when formed into prescription lenses or lens inserts for standard shooting glasses frames. (One pair of glasses for me can buy a low end AR!!!) Therefore, I’m looking for some “over glasses” - both sunglasses and clear. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.
My understanding is that any relatively recently made eye glasses will have sufficient protective capabilities - of course, I could be wrong my optometrist is a pilot. Have you considered just getting some clip on side shields?
Barring that, I’m imaging a protective over goggle from Lowe’s, Home Depot, OSH, Tractor Supply, etc. Glass, impact resistant lens with vented side protection.
While 99+% of surgery patients are happy - those who aren’t, REALLY aren’t. Think I’ll stick with glasses. Been wearing them for the past 50 years, guess I’ll wear them for the next 50:)
I wear corrective lenses and occassionally need to shoot while wearing glasses as well. I actually purchased to differents types of military-issue ballistic goggles from SportsmansGuide, both of them a little under $40.00 a piece, that I’ve found to work well when I’m wearing my glasses.
Reviving a dead thread with new info… Usually, it is the CURVE of most protective eyewear that distorts vision for most heavy prescription wearers… I have found that the OCC (Orange County Choppers) Mean Street frames to be EXCELLENT for the shooting sports… The lens stays relatively flat in front (no distortion from curves), has vent holes along the side protective frame, and is made tough… I have been very happy with them…
I like the fact that you can measure your face width between temples and temple piece length and purchase glasses that actually fit your head. This looks like my next pair of glasses.
