Nof555,
Your part failure made me check both my rifle for cracks and so far I got nothing. I have to agree for the price of the 17 there shouldn’t be any part failures with such a low round count. I like the scar series but any upgrades or enhancements are very pricey. Anyway please post fn’s response once you contact them.
The handl latch looks good but not at that price point.
Will do, I will be calling tomorrow after work. I need this rifle running for March so I may not send the stock in if they request an exchange. Not really sure if I want to put my trust in another one anyway, may just bite the bullet and invest in the handl hinge.
I did basically the same thing with my 16s but worse. Shit sucks.
Tzook… you have a picture of this?
As a huge SCAR fan that doesn’t look good. At first I thought it was only stock button, but a critical component like the stock plate is a serious issue. Hopefully FN will fix that ASAP by releasing an improved version of the plate - a metal one.
I noticed this very issue appear at about 4000 rounds fired on the 17 - a crack very similar to nof555’s picture - and a little over 2000 rounds since I noticed the crack.
It’s still installed as is, being left without a satisfactory solution, and I intend to do a full review here on M4C at 10k rounds uncleaned. We’ll see.
Pretty much been the same issue since day one. They haven’t fixed it yet, so don’t hold your breath. This is not a new issue.
Sorry about your rifle OP. Mine has been fine with light range use.
All part of it.

I called FN. Even though this seems like an issue they should be well aware judging by the responses in here, they still said I will have to send in the whole rifle. And pay for shipping. I can understand having to send the stock in, but the whole situation just leaves a bad taste in my mouth regarding FN. I said I have a class in the middle of March, they said their turn-around time is 4-6 weeks but that’s not a guarantee. My co worker sent in a FNX-45 and didn’t get it back for several months. I want them to pay to fix it, so I’m going to buy the handl stock plate so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Then, after the class, swap it back to stock and send it in just so they have to fix it out of principle. Once I get it back I will put the handl one back on and leave the stock potentially faulty one as a back up.
Edited to add- I’m used to Smith and Wesson’s customer service, this situation is quite sad in comparison.
Nof,
I think that response is BS from fn. that doesn’t sit well with me and owning two scars.
Same thing they told me, only “we don’t know when we will get one”.

Shot show is next week…stay tuned
BTW gents being able to move some production in house has allowed us to drop the price of the stock hinges https://handldefense.com/product/scar-stock-hinge/
Awesome, purchasing mine in a week or two. What was shown at SHOT from you guys?
If you had the right credentials, SCAR 17s with the universal bolt carrier groups running multiple calibers (556-300blk-com-etc) with a suppressor we collaborated on that has less than 2% bolt speed increase on SCARs. Public release is TBT but very soon.
This is acceptable in a $2500 firearm /sarc/

A proper metal stock hinge and a non resiprocating ch and the scar would have been the ultimate weapons system. Too bad fn dropped the ball. And I love fns other products. Love, love, love my fns 9 pistol and want a ps90 and 2000. But not gonna pay 2k+ for a gun that needs work to be usable and reliable.

Oh how I would love my 17 in 300blk suppressed.
So what are you doing here then? News flash, the weapon is very usable, and reliable.it ha been adopted by socom and other militaries. It’s pretty well top of its class. It may not be perfect, but it has not had the 50 years of teething and refinements that the ar has had.
