save $100 on dpms upper

It’s not a route that I would take either (DPMS upper), but there may be guys that are rabbit ears broke and may need a SHTF weapon that only an unemployment check could pay for??? The economy does sukk (even though our intellectual elites declared the Recession over last June).

DPMS A3 upper - $400
CMT MP-tested bolt - $55
.040" taller sight post - $6
Shipping costs of carrier for MOACK staking - $10
Shipping costs of upper to have chamber reamed - $20
Gunsmithing work for the use of Ned’s reamer - $25

So, that brings you up to $516 just to make the thing somewhat reliable and that’s not including the costs of anti-tilt followers since the upper doesn’t have M-4 feed ramps.

You could have just purchased a Spike’s upper, which is superior in every respect, for $480.

For $520 you could have purchased a BCM upper.

What a waste of a thread.

This is ridiculous. If they can’t afford to purchase a decent rifle that you can actually trust your life on, how can they afford enough ammo to become proficient with it?

A S&W M&P 15-22 may be a better choice for such folks.

We do not subscribe to the mentality of a “starter gun” or “beginners gun” that will be upgraded to something else in the future.

We subscribe to the idea of a gun that is a lifetime purchase from the start that will never need upgrading.

Then they can go buy a used Colt if they are hard up for money.

We have been down this winding road before and now the journey is over. It makes no sense at all to purchase crap which requires even more money to make it right.

I have said before that there is no need to rush out and buy something sub par. You can wait longer and get what you need. If you are struggling to save 50.00-100.00 dollars then you won’t be able to feed it or maintain it.
