Savage 30-06 questions

I have a buddy that wants to make a trade with me. I have a Norinco SKS bull-pup that he wants pretty bad. He has offered a Stevens single shot 12 gauge, and a Savage 30-06 bolt action, for a strait up trade.
I do not know what model the Savage is yet, he is going to bring both of them by on Saturday so I can check them out.

First off, Is this a good trade? Second, is there any Savage bolt gun models I should steer clear of?

I am very interested in this trade, because I have no bolt guns in my collection.
Thanks

I have no clue what the value of your SKS is…

But both Savage and Stevens are good firearms (same company actually)…they’re not top of the line by any means, but all the Savage rifles I’ve ever shot were very accurate.

You could do a lot worse than a Savage 30-06…a new Remington for example.

And the 30-06…well…its awesome…old and plain, but still awesome.

The 30-06, if its a newer model is worth $350-$400, maybe more, maybe less…depends on the model and whether its stainless or not…if its an older one, the price is probably about the same, depending on condition. Find out what it is exactly…then look it up on Gunbroker and see what they’re selling for.

The shotgun…while a perfectly good single shot, is probably not worth more than $100 or so.

This.

Do it.

anyways op depends on your uses if you plan on getting into lr shooting or hunting with the rifle its not a bad trade. If they are going to sit around and collect dust consider how much you use the SKS. Rifles are great but they are also money pits once you are finished with them, scopes, stocks , ammo etc.

also this may be better suited in the general forum.

I really wanted the 30-06 for a hunting rifle, and really didn’t care much about the 12gauge… but I won’t be going through with this trade. I have reasons to believe that one or both of the firearms involved in the trade may be stolen, and that is a chance I am un-willing to take. So back to square one, I guess. Thank you all for your input.

That bites.
