I’ve had excellent results with RMR bullets. Shipping is fast and free. The text below is from the email I got this morning.
“We are doing some remodeling/updating a shop and we need some quick cash. So, here is a great one day flash sale. Get 8% off anything from now until the end of the day on 3/14/2025 with coupon code: FLASHSALE”
Ah, cool. I just saw this and love RMR bullets. I’ll go take a look. On their last sale, I bought 3K of their zinc-plated bullets for $77 per thousand, and they shoot great. I grabbed the 120 JHP Nukes! I may go look at the 130 RN!
How do RMR’s 69 or 77gr .224 bullets compare to the “factory seconds” that Midway or Powder Valley sell, in terms of accuracy?
I’m too stingy to pay for top-shelf match bullets, and I’m happy with ≈1 moa, and IIRC the price of RMRs vs. blems was about the same.
(Right now I’m in Europe, and both RMR and Midway’s sites are off-limits.)
The RMR 69 3GH are 1.5 MOA on a good day from a 1:7 twist bolt gun, which will shoot in the 0.5s with the 69 SMK. I use them as a low cost alternative to 55s for shooting beyond 200.
The 75 3GH shoots much better, sub MOA in that same gun.
I had some 77 SMK blems that shot great. Typically in the .3s with one or two that were 0.5
Hornady blems are a gamble. Sometimes they are decent but not always.
RMR recently came out with a 135 grain nuke jacket Hollow point. I’ve been waiting for a 147 because I shoot a ton of their 147 full metal jacket, flat nose, but I’ll live with a 135. I bought 1000135 flat nose match winners to start working up a load. I doubt it’ll have much different impact on my current 147. I have around a thousand 147’s to finish loading up, so I probably won’t get to them anytime soon. However, in the meantime, when they have sales, I’ll be stocking up on the 135 flat nose and 135 nukes.
Pro tip when ordering from RMR. Since they do free shipping, you’re better off buying in equalities of 1000 per order. If you buy 2000 to 5000 bullets, they’re gonna stuff as many bullets into a mailing box as they can, and it gets freaking heavy. I made the mistake of ordering 2500 and they came in one box.
Doesn’t matter if you’re a muscle man who can pick that up easily and bring it in your house, it’s going through the post and they are beating the shit out of it. The boxes get hammered by the post office. I got this information from Jake himself, the owner of the company. I sent him an email telling him how much I liked his bullets but hated the way they ship. He told me to break the orders down into small orders and I’d have more boxes and less bullets. Like I said, with free shipping, that’s the way to go.
I’ve also been planning to buy some used brass from Republic ammunition. The washed and polished 9 mm that still has a primer in. It is $79 for 2000 pieces of brasdelivered to my house in South Texas. That’s not a bad price considering shipping about 20 bucks. It’s mixed heads stamps, but that’s no big deal for me.
Also to add. On the spent brass, there’s no sales tax.
I have always been a big fan of 135 grn bullets,my favorite for a long time were the Xtreme 135 grn bullets,https://www.xtremebullets.com/9mm-135-RNFP-p/xc9mm-135rnfp-b0500.htm
They are on sale right now so decent price with free shipping it says. I have a buddy that casts bullets and then powder coats them and he is less than any of the commercial sellers so I buy from him mostly. I do get from other vendors when the price is right though.
Most of my bud’s like the 147s and load lite for competition and powder savings but I always have liked the 124/125/135 style bullets, just me being me I guess. I have yet to try the RMR 135s but will hold out for the 4th of July sale hopefully. I’ll report back after I try them. I have been thinking about the 130 Silver bullets from RMR but have not tried yet,the 120 HP shot lights out through my Staccato P. Will update as I go along, finally warm and sunny in my neck of the woods.
