Custom Redhawk done by Hamilton Bowen in 45 Colt

Cap and ball Confederate Navy .44 revolver.

Picked this up a couple of months ago for backpacking and a back up carry. 21/2" barrel with 8 shots of .357 magnum and only weighs around 24 oz. I have taken it out to the range a couple of times and it shot tight groups at 15 yards. I am pretty impressed with it so far, I have it loaded with hornaday hollows. In the winter i open carry my USPF .45 and slide this hot little number right into my coat pocket.
*I have read about issues with the firing pin failing to strike the primer hard enough due to the drop safety S&W used to get it on the list for the People’s Republic of California but fixed it and I am 99%positive this is one after the matter.
Next time I go to the range I will provide a more in depth report of it’s accuracy.

Isn’t that an N frame?
If so, that’s a pretty beefy “backup”. ![]()
I had one of the Night Guards that had poor ignition. Sent it back to S&W and they replaced the firing pin with the longer one it probably should have had to start with.
It is an N frame and yeah definitely a beefy back up! Lol I have about 150-200 through w/o any malfunctions but I know exactly what you are talking about with yours, S&W put a drop safety in this series and it was cause an issue

My only wheel gun… .22 LR Tanarmi Buffalo Scout

My older brother bought this brand new many years ago and never shot it. I asked him about it one day and if he wanted to sell it to me, so he said I could have it for free.
I actually remember selling those things for $89.00 back in 1989/1990.
That was very cool of your brother.
Yes it was. Still has the receipt in the box too…he paid about $70 or so I think. Just wish it had the magnum cylinder.

Man that Model 19 brings back memories. I carried one on my side for 10 years. I think its the reason I have back problems today.
