Removing FSB sling mount?

I tried searching with no effect. I have an LMT upper and see no need for the FSB sling mount as I have a Larue rail with QD mount.

A hammer and a punch. The rivet will come out without too much effort.

Ya it’s going to take some elbow grease. I have been at it for 30 min. Almost there…

grind down one side then punch it out…

paint over any scratches.

It should come out much easier than the time you are having. Where are you located? One of us on here could help you out. If you want to ship me the upper I will do it for you also. Dont worry im a LMT dealer and wont keep it.

Yeah I’m having a hell of a time. I got the two taper pins out before for the FSB alone. But this sling mount is a pain. I’m out of CA in Orange County. I’m going to have my guru buddy take a look. I swear I got man arms and gave it a nice couple of wacks!

Just apply pressure with a finger to the head of the rivet from the opposite side and carefully drill the flared side of the rivet with an 1/8" bit. No grinding, no scratches. Once the flare has been cut through you should be able to pull the rivet out easily.

I’ve taken them out with a 1/8" drill as well. Just drill enough of the rivet head away to make it easy to drive out with a punch.

Thanks guys I got it. It took a punch and some time.

Yep, I drilled all mine out as well.

Takes me about 10 seconds. Find a small punch that will fit into the concave side of the rivet and whack it with a small hammer. Then pull the rivet off the punch with pliers (it’ll be stuck on it most times) and wala, no more sling swivel.
