Im assuming the stock, handguard and grip can be replaced with aftermarket products(ie UBR, a 308 railed forearm and a MIAD?)
Whats the accuracy like?
Just would like a general idea of what ppl think. Id like a 308 AR, and Remington in the past has made excellent firearms(hell their shotguns are top notch as are their bolt guns).
Just curious is all. Is there a better rifle out there for the same price?
As stated the R-25 is a camflaged DPMS. The pistol grip and A2 stock are standard AR. The free float handguard is heavy. To replace it you would have to use a SR25 compatible unit. DPMS and LaRue Tactical use that system and magazines. I have one I havent fired yet, but I have the Classic and fired it. Its not bad.
I’ve handled the ff version, and it’s not heavy at all…
General feedback of what I’ve read re: DPMS quality of parts and assembly is mixed. Having been burned like that before, I would save my money and time for something else. I think LittleLebowski has really enjoyed his stainless heavy 24" DPMS, so do a search on his reports.
“better for the money” is pretty open ended. Do you want to stay with the AR-type platform? If not, an FNAR should be considered. For the same money you can get a very well appointed Rem 700, instead of a starting point…
Id like to stick with the AR platform. I was interested in the Remington R25 as I think the Camo scheme looks good on it. Plus, Id probably swap out the handguard, grip, and stock with other stuff in Black, give it a little change.
I like the idea of the DPMS pattern lower for the use of Magpul LR20 mags. I cant afford a KAC, maybe LMT will be cheaper.
