(red-faced, eyes-down question...); Self-def 9mm load(s)???

I just bought my girl an SCCY 9mm we’ll shoot together until we have enuf confidence in it for her to (legally!) carry. She’s previously carried a S&W Model 66 that she was quite proficient with (Gawd! - isn’t THAT reason enuf to marry this woman?!!?) We’re going this route after having to imprvose/adapt/overcome thanks to the cheesy economy.

This piece is slightly larger than a Kel-Tec .380; 10 + 1, slide locks open on empty, a double-strike capable poly two-tone. Decent DAO trigger (qouted @ 9 lbs. - feels like 6 and smooooth), and, hey - it “feels” good to her (… ;)…)

We’re hoping you good people can give us some thoughts/experiences on an effective self-defense round for this puppy. My first direction was Hornady’s Critical Defense 115gr., but we’re open to comments. Neither of us have any experience w/ the 9 millie platform…

“I just bought my girl an SCCY 9mm”

So, you really don’t care for this gal much?

That’s a cheap, in every negative connotation of the word, gun to be using for self defense.

Just sayin.

If she can shoot a model 66 well then I would have gotten her something like a S&W 642
