I’m hoping I can get an opinion on what kind of optics I should put on my AR. I’m versed in bolt guns but AR’s are new to me and there’s a ton of great info available- but I’m started to get confused.
I’ve been trying to use the forum to get myself educated; I haven’t found a discussion with much info on what optics to use for something like gophers/prairie dogs. I’m hoping someone can weigh in and help me. I’m wondering at what distance a red dot and magnifier start to be ineffective for gopher sized targets. I’ve had a couple of people say they can use a red dot and 3 x magnifier on gophers out to 300 yards but others say stick with something with a BDC reticle and variable power.
I’ve got a S&W MP 15T with flip up buis’s and would like to make it more versatile than a more specific long range set up. I’d also would like to spend around $500 bucks or so on optics but realize you get what you pay for so I’m flexible.
Any opinions?
