I have a Colt 6933 (11.5" barrel) and I am thinking of shaving the fsb and replacing the handguard with a noveske nsr or similar rail. Light weight is key here, but I am concerned about the length of the rail. I run an ops inc suppressor 100% of the time with this rifle and the can backs up right to the fsb, so that’s where the rail must end. I don’t really want to run the rail over the can and would like to avoid cutting the rail if possible.
Has anyone shaved the fsb on a 6933 and installed an nsr or similar rail? How do you like it? Could you please post pics if you did?
Yep sure have. NSR 9", I want to say the rail ended right at the end of gas block but can’t quite remember as my gun is no longer setup like this. I want to say Rob_S Had a similar setup using the troy rail and the OPS inc can and it worked just fine.
That gas port is pretty large for 100% suppressed. I’ve had better luck cutting down a 16" than using a normal 11.5". An adjustable gas block could help also.
I don’t know the size off the top of my head. They’re fine without a can or a 50/50 gun. For 100% suppressed you don’t need that big of a gas port to run. Check out the ultimate suppressed thread in the AR tech discussion section.
Sure, it’ll run, just harder than what it needs to for 100% suppressed.
After using a combo with a smaller gas port, LMT enhanced carrier, Vltor A5H4, Springco green spring, for 100% suppressed, it’s hard to go back.
Ok was just making sure that you were not trying to say it is unreliable if ran 100% suppressed.
I would agree that it may run run harder than needed but, it will run reguardless. All the things you listed will definitly change things up a bit as far as how it runs. I actually plan on running the same stuff on a 12.5 build.
I run a Sprinco red spring with an H buffer and BCM Ion-Bond BCG on my 6933 that always wears an M42K can (it’s on a RR full auto lower). It runs like a champ.
I don’t run the cans full time but I do run them often. I shaved both 6933 FSB. Top is 11" troy rail that I run with a AAC M4-2000 and the bottom is a KAC URX11 mid length with a SF Mini.
