Radio Pouch for Motorola HT1550XLS Radio?

Just planning my new 2nd Line. Starting with a Mayflower APC, HSP D3, ATS Combat Leader Admin Pouch, with a Assault Back Panel Type 1, plus two TQs on the PC. Main IFAK is on my first line. Ordered a 40mm bandolier from TT for 40mm ammo.

Trying to find a radio pouch that will fit my Motorola HT1550XLS. I really like the tilt out feature of the TT radio pouch for front panel access, but it seems oversized for my radio.

Any directions would be appreciated.

What are the dimensions of your radio?

Radio Body with battery is 5.98" x 2.26" x 1.50" (152.0 x 57.5 x 37.5 mm).

This pouch is pretty sweet, http://www.first-spear.com/product.php?productid=17633&cat=265&page=1. And NO, I am not a FS fanboy, but they do make some good kit and I have one of these on my home defense/active shooter plate carrier.

Interesting! I’m having trouble finding any detail pics of it - would you mind posting some up? I’d be curious to see if the keypad would be completely visible through the opening, and how hard it would be to get in and out of the pouch for battery changes.

I am traveling this week, so I am unable to take pictures. There isn’t an opening on the front to access the keypad, but it does offer room for the attachment of the speaker mic or a headset connector/PTT. It is also very easy to slide the radio in and out of the pouch to change batteries. I’ll see if I can get a couple of pictures up when I get back from this trip.

I’ve got a pouch from Renegade Armor that fits my Motorola HT1000 well but my radio is about 1.5" taller than yours.

Tactical Tailor also makes a small radio pouch that should work with your radio.

The RA pouch appears to be the same as the first spear one - does the top adjust up and down for radio height?

The TT pouch is a standby - but I really want some that mostly covers the radio. It’s an expensive piece of gear!

We use these at work and they are holding up well (5 or so years I think now). They are padded which protects the radio, and the top strap can be adjusted.

Have you looked at Maxpedition?

Some great ideas, but I’m gonna talk to some people about getting a custom pouch built I think. I’d like it to be the right thing.

Take a look at the radio pouch from Grey Ghost Gear as well, http://www.greyghostgear.com/pouches/accessory-pouches/radio-pouch-2. It is padded, adjustable and will fit your HT.

That looks like a great pouch for the more common small to medium size radios. It’s too bad they don’t make it in more colors.

Can’t beat TYR! Dimensionally this should work.

Really really liking the grey ghost gear and Tyr offerings.

Was also considering grabbing a Crye JPC MBITR Pouch set. That was I can stuff it behind my cummerbund - really thinking that low profile will be better as long as the radio doesn’t crush my ribs in the process.

OP

What pouch did you end up going with? I ask because I’m in the market for one for my HT1000s and an XPS5000.

I didn’t figure a new thread was warranted in case anyone was wondering…

I was very happy with the selection and price for leather holsters here: http://hagueleather.com/t/portable-radio-cases
Cheaper than a used one on eBay.
