Hands down Obama is the worst president since WWII: poll
By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times Wednesday, July 2, 2014
Poll after poll shows President Obama’s approval rating dipping recently, and one new Quinnipiac University Poll finds that voters say Mitt Romney would have been a better choice in 2012.
With Mr. Obama deploying military troops to Iraq, failing to find compromise with Congress and seeing major defeats in the Supreme Court, voters continue to sour on him.
Quinnipiac found 45 percent of voters say the country would have been better off if Mr. Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, had been election, while just 38 percent say Mr. Obama remains a better choice.
Even Democrats aren’t so sure — just 74 percent of them told the pollsters Mr. Obama was clearly the better pick in the last election.
Voters also rate him the worst president since World War II, topping even his predecessor, President George W. Bush, who had left office with terrible ratings.
“Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Bush at the bottom of the popularity barrel,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
A Zogby Analytics Poll released Wednesday also found Mr. Obama slipping — in that survey, to 44 percent approval, while his disapproval leapt 4 percentage points from last month to reach 54 percent.
Nearly half of voters told the Zogby poll that Mr. Obama is “unable to lead the country.”
A lot of this looks like it’s being viewed through anti-Obama rose-shaded glasses. They seem to be saying that large numbers are “only” while smaller numbers are “significant”.
In any case, I’m sure that in four years, they’ll have another Worst President Since WWII and Obama will be between Bush Jr and whoever the new president is.
Hell, if Bush Jr took Second Worst in that polling, Obama not only took First Worst (Most Worst? Worstest?), he also took Fourth Best, behind Reagan, Clinton (!), and Kennedy.
I’m a glass half full kinda guy. Given the leadership offered up by both the Republicans and Democrats to kick off this new century, I gotta believe the only way forward is up.
Way I see it, he’s pissing people off for real, meaning he’s finally doing his job - as opposed to tso desperately trying to please everyone.
It doesn’t hurt he couldn’t give a rats ass about being re-elected so there’s no need to play that kind of politics, as we can now clearly see.
Things are going to get really interesting - going to see a bit more balls I think.
Topping W is going to take a lot more than some poll…I mean - really - is our amnesia that bad or do we really think the Iraq thing and with that crashing the economy is just a speedbump from some prior administration?
Well he did exactly what the people who recruited him, trained him, etc. wanted him to do. On that part he is NOT a failure and acheived most of their goals.
What exactly has he done? The ACA was written by a bunch of insurance company lobbyists by Democrats in Congress. Obama signed it but had little to do with drafting the legislation. The ****-ups at the DOJ and IRS are just that, bureaucrats running amok. For all the pitching and moaning, we’re six years in and I can’t see where the guy has really done ****-all.
Moose-Knuckle pretty much sums it up. The Glorious Leader has been an out and out success. He said he would “fundamentally change the country” and I would say he’s gone a long way down that path. Other than the fact that many feel it’s in the wrong direction, you gotta admit that he’s done what he set out to do and is working to finish the job. In that respect he should be at the top of the list and not the bottom. Now considering WHAT he’s done to this country, he’s where he deserves to be. <SARCASM-ON> Now for a word from the PC Police: It’s a racist poll! Has to be because he’s the only African-American on the list so how can he be judged against a bunch of old white guys? The poll question should have been: Who’s the best African-American President this country has elected? Now that would have been a fair question! <SARCASM-OFF>
Uh, Iraq is one thing you can debate, but the economy crashed because of the Community Reinvestment Act. That was put into motion by Carter and strengthened by Clinton and their Democrat cronies (aka Barney Fwank and Chris Dodd). Giving loans to people who had no damn business getting them was NOT Bush’s fault; in fact, his administration sent up warning flares about what was happening and Congress stifled it. “Why, buying a home is a right, not a privilege for the wealthy.”
I tend to agree. I don’t think things would look much different with NO ONE in the White House. As if the Executive Branch had been completely dissolved.
It is amazing that W has been surpassed in overall hated by Obama. I’m surprised that so many people woke up, especially those who took the Quinnipiac poll, which is notoriously slanted left. Back in 2008, I pretty much expected Obama’s presidency to go like this, but I figured by this time his approval would still be in the 70% range regardless. Maybe there’s some hope.
Now, I didn’t agree with everything GWB did; far from it. Generally, I supported the guy, but he certainly wasn’t one of our greatest presidents. However, he did FAR less damage to this country and its reputation LBJ and Jimmy Carter did. Hell, I’d rank Clinton low too. He was awful, but people loved him because of the economy and because we were finally out of the Cold War after nearly 50 years, though he had nothing to do with either. Looking back, he was a terrible president. All things considered, I’d put W about right in the middle of the 12 presidents since 45, certainly not 2nd worst overall when you consider some of the others.
These polls (“worst president” polls) are never good/valid in the lame duck years of ANY presidency. Every president talks legacy, knowing that at least half he country will disagree during the time of the president. Re-do this same poll in 30 years and see how it pans out. I have no clue, and I suspect he will still be one of the worst president, but you cannot get any objectivity in lame duck years from polling people with a very short historical memory.
He’s like 0-13 in SCOTUS. He doesn’t have to directly tell minions in govt what to do, he puts people like Holder in charge and people like Lerner get the nod because they’ll do what is ‘right’ with out being directly told. BHO penchant for only hearing about bad news after it breaks in the NYT is a sign at least of weak leadership if not a borderline mental disorder. His general lack of taking any blame for anything, outside of appoligizing for the USA in general for stuff that happened before he took office was the first tip off to this. Stuffing the NRLB board illegally. Valerie Jarrett, my god what a mental midget that we’ll all have to listen to on the talking head shows till we die. What exactly has he done? Unemployment is down, yeahhhhh! (Employment is actually down.). He precipitated the current border problems with his crazy proclamations, basically birthed ISIS, encouraged Russia.
Oh, he championed 3d printing. Yeah.
The bad news is that he was voted the worst president, the good news for him is that he was voted “Best Emperor”.
