Seen this ALOT, can someone please explain what this is called, and it’s purpose?
I couldn’t find it in the Knowledge base threads…but thanks to everybody for the knowledge base, i found ALOT of other very useful info…

Those are GEN I KNS anti-rotation pins. The GEN II’s look like the ones below.
They basically prevent wear on your receiver. I really like them though because they keep your hammer pin from walking. This generally happens when the hammper pin hole is worn out.

Google KNS…anti-rotation pins

Edit…Ya beat me by that much.
From what I have seen, the quickest way to break your hammer/trigger pin is to install a set of those pins. They are designed to prevent the rotation of your hammer/trigger pin as the hammer/trigger pin moves, but the problem is, you want the hammer/trigger pin to rotate so as not to be stressed.
If they were really needed, they would be part of the TDP.
Thank you…everyone…guess i still need to do more research before contuning with my quest for a better M4.
I will keep reading, and keep asking questions, if i’ve learned anything. it’s to at least do that!
A look at some of the other trinkets that KNS makes will give you an idea of what kind of operation they are. (i.e. crosshair front sight posts, etc.)
Some of the guys on TOS who paid too much for a registered receiver will buy them to prevent “receiver wear”. The justification being that they’re cheap insurance.
I counter that “logic” by offering to sell them magic potion that will accomplish the same thing.
LOL!!
Humm, I was gonna buy one of those for my 6920 and Stag…
Totally not my experience after 6500 rounds on them. Adding another set to my new build on a Sun Devil Lower, and LMT LPK…and I run the gun hard.

Is your gun Full-Auto? If not, you are not “running it hard” (no offense). Almost all of the failures I have seen are on F/A guns.
I have been running these for years and have never seen a single one broken (ever). I am running them on SA weapons though. I wil be putting them on some FA lowers shortly and will report if I ever get some to break.
Something like this would never be in the TDP as it is too nice an item (read too expensive).

You do NOT have to have them. I simply like them because they prevent the most dreaded sound on earth. The “click” noise when your hammer pin has walked and you did not realize it. This of course can happen at the worst possible time.
So I view them as cheap insurance and yes I have had hammer pins walk on several guns over the years.

I disagree a gun dosent have to be full auto to be run hard.
Another problem I have heard of is these pins break, and you do not know it. Now I guess in a combat situation I guess that is a good thing, but for home defense, etc., you need to check the pins after each use before putting the gun away.
Well that depends on your definition of “hard use”. ![]()
ETA:
Don’t want to appear to be bashing this product, but I have heard of issues and wanted the OP to be an informed buyer. He know has more than enough info to research further on his own.
Very true, and thank you… however i do appreciate all the info from ALL the people who have the experience.
This sounds rude, but we much prefer to have first hand accounts on things. If it is second hand info, then we want to see the proof. If it is third hand then we are most likely better off without it.
So the question to you is, have you ever owned a set of KNS pins and had them break???
C4
You hit the nail on the head. It’s about people who have used the product in a harsh environment for several thousands of rounds that have the most credible insight from “experience”.
FWIW…you don’t have to go full auto to have a trigger pin walk. Mine did on SA, and that’s why I now run the Anti Walk pins. It’s like insurance. You might never need it, but if you do…you’ll need it very badly.

seems like a small price to pay now, or (maybe?) a much bigger problem later…
Absolutely!
