PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube

Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I cannot get the search function to operate correctly.

Does anyone use or know anything about the PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to this system?

It looks interesting but I would like some feedback before I decide to purchase one or not. Thanks.

I guess its kind of new and no one has any experience with it yet.

I just copied and pasted “PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube” into the search field and it worked just fine.

The first thread returned is pretty informative.

I’ve only seen them online. I run a Magpul UBR so it isn’t an option for me. What is does it supposedly offer over a standard buffer tube ? Not that I doubt PWS, I have been very happy with my FC556.

It meant to work with piston uppers to migiate carrier tilt and reduce felt recoil since there is some type of dead blow “system” in the buffer tube.

Here’s a thought: Why not just post that link?

Not to mention that the search function apparently isn’t working.

Indeed, that was a thought. I prefer to teach a man to fish and in that regard my post was a contribution to this thread. Your reply (and apparently your first post) was nothing of the sort.

If you can’t get the search function to work properly you can use google.

In the search box type:
site:m4carbine.net “what you want to search for”

Here’s a fish, but the rod and reel is above

I use google for searching a lot of forums as it usually works really well.

Dave

I didn’t know you could do that on Google. I learned something today. Thanks. By the way, I have had several forum search failures, even when I was looking for my own posts. Often quicker to search my user ID for all posts.

Search fails here pretty regular for me, I think it’s here, they all run together after enough reading. I use the google site specific search often as well.

I noticed that tube is the cheaper-wussier aluminum I believe, reading awhile ago. Might be too hard to make it out of heartier stuff.

edit: read the old thread and I can’t believe nobody asked, WAS the thing out of spec? He posted enough of a measurement photo someone ought to be able to tell I’d think, no?

Since I last posted, I’ve had the opportunity to try screwing the thing into 4 additional lowers with the same result - wouldn’t fit/took too much force to get it in far enough for the pin on the buffer detent to engage the hole. So yeah…out of spec, no question in my mind.

I haven’t tried to RMA it lately, since they said to try it again in that thread. I’ll have to get to that. I acknowledge I could have communicated the problem to them a little more clearly, but frankly I’ve lost any enthusiasm I might have had for using the product or dealing with them any more. I mean, it’s just a buffer tube, right? The substitute I used (VLTOR) worked great, and even has the same cool position numbers that show through the hole in the iMod.

Vltor was the first to have the numbers on top of the carbine receiver extension to show through the stock’s hole, as I recall

Mine went on my LMT lower fine (SBR with LMT MPR 12.5). But the bolt wouldn’t lock back when mags where empty. I tried colt, HK and magpul to make sure it wasn’t due to mags. PWS sent me a different (thicker) end plate which seemed to fixed the problem. They said they had never heard of that problem before.

This strikes me as one of those “kinda neat, sometimes, but don’t bet your life on it” things.

I was kinda interested in this thing, but the more I read from user reviews, it ain’t what it’s cracked up to be. Multiple users noticed ZERO change in felt recoil with it. Granted the claimed 10% reduction would be hard to notice anyway, but…

Noticed no appreciable change in recoil.

Looks cool but doesn’t seem worth the cost.

Wasn’t worth the money to me, and definitely not worth the hassle. A good quality buffer tube and Noveske QD endplate have been completely functional on that SBR, and less than half the price.

Sounds about right.
