Post Workout Whey Question

I searched for a thread to tack this question on to, but couldn’t, so here we are.

I recently bought your new supplement book and have a question about my post-workout drink, which is whey protein isolate (NOW flavored WPI). I recently switched from a protein complex, Syntha 6, to increase my whey intake post workout and to get more WPI in general per your recommendations.

Can I mix this with milk for my post workout drink, or will mixing the whey with casein have some undesirable result (slower absorption of the whey, etc)? I was thinking that I could switch to the unflavored WPI and just mix it with chocolate milk to get the carbs and flavor benefits, but I don’t want to mess with the benfits of the whey.

Thanks

I’ve taken whey with milk before and it’s great if you want better taste, like thicker consistency etc. I would stay away from chocolate milk though as it probably has a lot of sugar additives in it.

An even better option IMO is coconut milk / water. Way high levels of potassium and great for recovery. I personally use chocolate whey with unflavored ZICO brand coconut water.

For carbs I eat about 4-5 dried apricots to get healthy carbs to process the whey.

Just what works for me. Good luck,

I agree that it taste’s better with milk, and Syntha 6 taste’s way (no pun intended) better than the pure WPI.

My question is more about somehow affecting the performance of the WPI by mixing it with casein. I understand milk is 20% whey anyway, but my understanding was that pure WPI is ‘better’ than a whey/casein blend, especially as a post-workout drink.

The chocolate milk question was to try to raise the carb/protein ratio. 3 or 4 to 1 is a lot, and it seemed to be a way to do that.

Hopefully Mr. Brink can chime in here.
