Is there a profile setting or any setting that will allow threads to show newest first?
Don’t click on the thread title. Click on the “Xmin” which is time since the last post.
Where is the “Xmin” to click?
Not a guru here so bear with me.
When I look at the board I see the thread titles (or subjects?). Next to that see the post count (or how many replies there are). Below the post count I see the time since the last reply (15 min, 43 min, 3 hours, 90 days,…)
I click on the time since the last reply (what I called “Xmin” and it takes me to the last reply.
Maybe I am viewing it differently but that is how I navigate this new format when viewing threads I have already viewed and just want to catch up on. There is also a subtle red line showing where I read to on my last visit. I usually scroll up to the red line and read whats new.
See this is why luddites like me shouldn’t try to answer tech questions. I totally misread what he was asking. Hell, I couldn’t even clearly answer what I thought the question was.
I really like how ChattanoogaPhil hooked him all up without once calling me a dumbass. ![]()
That only orders the thread list, not posts inside a thread.
When inside a thread (topic) I would like to see latest as the top post, not the last, etc.
Not aware of any automatic way to display posts in reverse order in threads. However, you can click on the post count box in the bottom right of a thread which will bring up the speed scroll bar (just a name I made up), then jump to the last post. The speed scroll bar allows you to immediately jump from anywhere to anywhere in a thread regardless of number of posts.

So would anyone responding RickyD’s question, including myself.
RickyD first asks: “Is there a profile setting or any setting that will allow threads to show newest first?”
When RickyD gets the answer to his question he then says: “That only orders the thread list, not posts inside a thread.”
So… ya know… it is what it is. ![]()
Yeah, I did mean posts inside a thread (topic).
In most all-other forums, threads are just listed by activity, but inside the thread (topic) the posts can be ordered newest 1st.
It makes no sense to click into a thread (topic) and be dumped off looking at oldest 1st, especially when a thread (topic) is 20, 30, 100 posts big. The people usually coming back to a topic are those who posted in it, etc.
I hope that gives clarity.
When clicking on a thread that you’ve never clicked on before it takes you to the first post in the thread, like opening a book for the first time.
When clicking on a thread that you’ve clicked on before it takes you to the last post that’s been on your screen, like a bookmark.
It’s interesting how it works. It’s not new posts in a thread since you last logged on, but rather the last post in the thread that you’ve previously read or scrolled to on your screen. Example: If you only read through 50 posts in a 100 post thread, next time you click on the thread it takes you to 51.
I don’t know if there’s a way to reverse order that. As sophisticated as this forum is there may be a button to do what you’re asking, somewhere. Unfortunately, admin has chosen to provide no documentation, including a blank FAQ section. But this is old news not worth rehashing or complaining about.
If you include the name @pfaffman (forum tech guy) along with your forum questions he’ll likely provide an answer. Now that I’ve used his name in this post he may pop up here.
Ahh, ok.
I see how it works.
It’s not intuitive, and most-all other forums don’t do it like that.
TY for the info.
