Next generation turbo Prius 0-62 MPH 10 seconds (current GEN 11+ seconds)
918 Spyder 0-62 MPH 3.2 seconds.
The Prius driver won’t even be able to pucker up the 918 will be so far past.
I want one, but I probably can’t afford it. The Porsche 904 was one of my favorites but could never afford one of those either.
I owned a 1989 NA 944 for about 2 years and absolutely loved it! So much power and torque from that 4 cylinder. I routinely smoked V6 cars off the line and it handled like it was on rails. Too bad I had to sell it.
I think this technology will suit the rear engined 911 very well, indeed (though I am not really a fan of hybrids).
Porsche has a 911 GT-R that is a hybrid. Definitely, watch his space as it should be phenomenal over the course of, say, a 12 or 24 hour race. I’d also soon expect Audi to unveil similar technology on their R12 turbodiesel race car, too. Times are very interesting, indeed!
The 2010 Honda Civic Type R sedan is probably the best balance between performance, fuel economy, price and reliability. The problem/question is whether American Honda import it.
Doesn’t look like it since Honda is ending production of the Type R sedan…
