Does anyone else suspect possible foul play? NATO is surrounding both Rusia and China with military bases and now missile “defense” systems - both stationary and mobile. Then there are the “color revolutions”; the most recent in Kyrghystan.
I would not be surprised (at all) if rumors from the West point to “Russian involvement” even if it’s disinformation or elements within Russia responded when the opportunity presented itself.
I don’t put ANYTHING past the Russians at this point. I’d like to know if there are any protocols which prohibit so many important figures in the Polish govt from travelling together in one aircraft?
My first thought. Then once I read that the Pres.'s replacement is very anti-Russian I am almost certain it was not an accidental “accident”. Putin is convinced that our current president is a complete pussy, particularly after the little dance they did with the recently signed treaty, and he is playing the great game as it wasplayed in the 19th century. Come this winter I see natural gas not making its way from Russia to Poland, Poland bitching and then katy-bar the door.
It’s been all over the news the last two days, pilot error. The Tower tapes show the pilots were told to divert to an alternate airport several times. The pilot pushed his luck, thinking he could get in there, after 2 previous attempts to land. The 3rd attempt, he went below the “decision height” and crashed. I have made several hundred fog approaches in my airline career. The feeling is over whelming to get to your destination, on time, especially if a VIP is on board or if it’s your final flight of the day. “If” the weather was below the “approach minimums”, the landing should not have been attempted. The Pilot in Command/Captain, should have diverted after the first attempt. On a flight plan, you are given “alternate” airfields, based on the severity of the weather you are forecasted to encounter, upon arrival at your destination. That’s your “out” when you cannot make it in due to bad weather or deteriorating weather conditions. If you choose not to use the “out” listed, then you suffer at your own peril. When you violate sound procedure, and let your ego factor in, you die. Happens all the time.
100% agree. As a fellow airline pilot and accident investigator we see this all to often. Lots of crash’s happen due to “lets go take a look” or “as long as we follow this instrument we will be good(not knowing the instrument is fucked)” or “gotta-get-there-itis”. These things have killed a lot of good people. There was an accident in Kirksville, MO a few years ago where the pilots were tired, thought they saw the runway when they came out of the clouds so they went visual, right into the trees and killed everybody on the plane. When you are flying in fog you can see stuff that you think is the runway, but its really a house or a highway and want to descend further. Not saying thats what these guys saw, but its a possibility.
With the poor condition of the aircraft prior to the crash I am pretty positive they dont have things like we have in aircraft such as cockpit voice recorders or flight data recorders(hasn’t been reported they found the “black boxes” yet) so its possible the accident will never have an outcome besides “pilot error”, which it probably was.
