A couple former prosecutors now 2A defense lawyers speak out on the realities of the impact of the jury on SD shootings.
Interesting discussion on jury selection and how complex and difficult it can be. Also interesting point on “gun people on the jury” and how they are “the worst” due to their overly critical thinking regarding SD shootings.
I could see that now that it’s mentioned. The same goobers who get assed up if you call a “Mag” a “Clip”. They can’t wait to flex their gun knowledge muscle and correct stupid things like that.
I live in Central Texas, I have confidence that the Locals would give me a fair trial.
I would be more concerned about the prosecuter going way out in the weeds looking for a loop hole than the Defence.
I would guess the K.I.S.S. theory would be the best way to handle everything.
The Laws here lean toward property owners and it’s pretty cut and dry. If you’re on my property without my knowledge and are caught with my property in your hand as you attempt to take control of that property , it’s pretty much lights out.
Most of the crime in my area is Crimes of oppertunity. You leave it in the car and someone takes it. A risky event for the thief.
You know on the other side of this issue is petty theft, you end up losing property and repairing damage.
For Gods sake, get some of the crap out of your garage and park your vehicle inside. It saves a lot of drama.
And here, the legal system essentially doesn’t care about property at all. You can come on my property, take my property, injure or kill me in the process, and nobody cares. Most of the time, the cops won’t even come to make a report.
The whole “legal” system here is a joke and I’m starting to wonder why I still bother to play by the rules…
Indeed. Thankfully there are quite a few retired Army veterans on my “new” block and we’re starting to talk about getting an official Neighborhood Watch program going.
Depends on what locals. I think the point they were making is jury selection is hard to gauge. I’ve only been on 1 jury in the military…what a freaking bunch of cutthroat’s I was with. I stood my ground and the kid got off with a lighter sentence but the people I served with wanted to crucify a young guy for stupid shit.
I’ve got my summons for next month here in Comal County TX and maybe I’ll be picked…who knows.
In the past I have been asked about my Military Service which was always an immeadiate , pat on the back and shown to the Exit.
My only guess is that, there aint a lot of technicolor in the Military, everything seems to be right or wrong, black or white, with few shades of gray. We all know Liberals hate that.
My observation locally is that these folks just want to be left alone, but if you “F” around you will find out. Even the Democrats don’t mind burning a theif or a killer down to the ground here.
