Pat Rogers 3 day Operators course

Roger- that goes to my VA whe ensures that i will answer it. If straight to me i may never get to it.

I wouldnt use the bandolier for pistol mags during the class. There placement leads them more to a “oh shit” use then anything else. I think for the class, going with something like the Paul Howe rig that SKD Tac sells would do you well. I’ve ran one of those in the past with no problems also. I’d still go with a belt holster though. Just use a good OWB or something similar.

NCPatrol,

I think I’m gonna go with that SKD/Eagle Chest rig. Now I’m back to working on a holster…

Hope to meet you at the class!

RD62,

I’ve hosted Pat a couple of times, so I’ve been through his 3-day carbine course twice… Only had 2 other formal training courses, so I’m no “expert”, but here’s my take:

Pat is a GREAT instructor who will push you hard enough so that you learn, but not so hard that you’re overwhelmed. Don’t sweat it as long as you understand which end the bullet comes out of and not to point it at anything/anybody who doesn’t need to be shot.

Gear… The first time I took this class, I went with a full-house chest rig, which got pretty uncomfortable by day 3. The next time I went with an Eagle padded molle belt with a Paraclete TX-II pouch (three M4 & 3 pistol mags), a smallish dump pouch and a Safariland 6004 with the leg shroud cut (a la KevinB’s) so the holster rides as high as possible. I was much happier with this setup since it was simple, comfortable, and more or less works with my “civilian carry” muscle memory while not slowing me down in class. I never had a time when I felt like I needed more ammo on me.

That’s my two bits… I hope it helps.
