I like his style.
You can be a respected Chief who leads by example and stands up for your beliefs without make a mockery of your profession and position. I don’t recall any of the Sheriffs in CO making videos of this sorts to protest their new legislation.
I would be ashamed to work for him.

As much as one might admire his forthright intent (personally I’d look for just about any excuse to justify his message these days), it showed no discipline or common sense whatsoever.

I am not a fan of obscenities but this beats those chiefs who pander to the statists for personal political gain.
Then to pile it on by inventing a safety violation- it’s clear that the camera is running remotely and that no camera operators were harmed in the making of the video. Examine the facts. Sometimes I think we need a sign on this place that says “Please Check Your Pitchforks and Torches Before Entering”

For your average joe bob merica loving gun fanatic by all means the sky’s the limit. But it’s pretty apparent that as a CLEO his conduct is unprofessional and unbecoming an individual in his position and profession, irrespective of the content of his dialogue.
Is anyone seriously going to defend a public servant employed by the taxpayers who responds to criticism by posting a video clip on YouTube saying, “Fuck you, you cocksuckers!”?

I am reminded of my opinion of the con-man kwiksue and his actions. Seeming to stand against gun laws and for rights… but also is a con-man thief. If you want to pick someone to represent gun ownership in the court of law you don’t want a person of low morals and poor character. Easy opinion to hold.
I would think the people of NYC would have the same thinking when selecting a mayor… anyway…
I am processing where I stand on this one. Clearly he has a right to say as he pleases, but is it “good living” in the brotherhood of firearms owners to act like an idiot?
Let us suppose you went to a serious gun rally, like a day of patronizing Starbucks for standing up for the right to carry. Some guy comes and starts acting like this. Would you think it is a good idea? Would you say something? Would you just leave the rally? Would you expect the Starbucks rally supporting CCW to have the same impact now that a guy shows up acting like this? How do you think your Starbucks rally would be covered in the news now that a loudmouth hog has shown up and made the whole thing about “him”?
All important questions. I am torn by this guy’s right to personal liberty vs. my desire to have quality men and women representing our right to liberty.
Unfortunately that match-up isn’t going to be clean and neat all the time.
I don’t think he did us or himself any favors. As a sworn officer with arrest privileges, I hold him to a higher standard as far as keeping control of himself. His message is totally lost, and even lessened, by his delivery. I think he’s going to someday regret he ever made that video.
