I’m not too concerned with concealment, as I rarely carry and these would be more for cases of civil unrest (see europe). I’m mostly concerned with stability and ease of draw. Per the article, I’m thinking of a mid-hip, FBI cant holster. Just wondering if you guys can steer me towards a line of decent holsters that will fit my CZ & PM9. Opinions on the best set-up (cant, height, material) are also appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: what are the thoughts re Fobus holsters? They seem to offer a wide variety of OWB holsters for all makes and models.
I haven’t personally tried Fobus holsters, but from some reliable sources, I have heard that they are poor quality and often have reliability issues. For example, yesterday I took the Utah CFP class with Insights Training Center of Bellevue, WA. The instructor listed Fobus holsters as an example of a holster NOT to rely on, for CCW. Also, see this thread as an example, where some members mention issues with Fobus.
If you use search in the Handgun forum here on M4c, you’ll find numerous holsters that come up as examples of quality holsters. For instance, if you’re interested in a Kydex holster, two makers that many members here have found to be great quality are Comp-Tac, and Raven Concealment Systems. For leather, a local holster maker here in WA is Kramer: they are pricey but have a great reputation for quality. There are lots of great holster makers, just search through some of the holster related threads here and the better ones will be mentioned a lot.
These are nice kydex holsters for OWB carry. I prefer the straight drop for ease of use and speed. I have one for my P2000SK .40. in the “clip over” design.
For a CZ, Falco out of Slovakia makes a good leather thumb break holster called an It34. I have two of them one for my P01 and one for my 75b. They take about 5-6 weeks to get but they are good for the money. High noon also make good leather holsters. For Kydex, my brother has a blade tech and seems to be happy with his.
