Over 5 million lines of code

Will have to be rewritten among other things to un**** obamacare website.

Good. Hopefully by the time they rewrite it, the Long Legged Mack Daddy will be out of office & we can move on.

Maybe they didn’t get the Memo about their TPS reports. Time to let Initech debug the code…

OOOOOBAMA!
He pimps white women and black women!

LOL Howard plays that clip all the time. Classic

The part that galls me (well, maybe not, but I really wanted to use the word), is that the web site isn’t even really the problem. Assuming a perfectly-functioning web site, the program itself is so fraught with peril that it still represents an impending train wreck, with or without the technical implementation woes.

People are only beginning to realize that they are actually getting less choice, reduced coverage, greater costs and far fewer options from would-be employers. I’m not sure who is really standing to gain, in view of the fact that those with zero coverage were already being captured in some kind of Medicare/Medicaid safety net anyway, weren’t they? Not being snarky about this – but have those most in need really been left to die in our streets in the past? If so, you would think this would have been given a lot more attention.

Seems like the only thing we’ve done is to make things a lot tougher on, and more costly for, the regular working guy. Again. That may be naive on my part, as I’ve stopped following the issue very closely, but it certainly looks that way so far. The health care professionals in my immediate family tell me that layoffs and personnel cuts are hitting hospitals pretty hard as a result of this, while the population of those now eligible for mandatory care has been greatly expanded. I’m no math whiz, but something about that seems pretty “off” to me.

AC

The Government.

It was the only entity that ever stood to gain anything. It stands to gain massive control over the citizenry by wrecking the healthcare system to a point that single payer is the only “rational” solution to repair it. It was the underlying goal from day one.

It is how you control the segment of the population who refuses to accept Govt. housing, food, phones, etc. I.E. the self reliant.

Tell me it’s tinfoil? Explain another rationale for this mess?

Agreed. There’s a hidden agenda behind what these cocksuckers are doing with this. It’s definitely not because they are genuinely concerned about our wellbeing.

OK, so we know their agenda, what do we do to stop it?

5 million lines of code - no problem. All they have to do is lock some H-1B developers in a room with some Papa John’s and Mountain Dew, right?

Then roll the new code straight into production the next weekend.

Isn’t that what they usually do?

Nothing can be done. This is what the masses voted for.

Let the palaces burn & start over.

I love the contortions that the big media heads twist themselves into, trying to polish this gold plated turd of a system. Have you noticed how they are doing this? It is getting harder for the libs to smooth over the warts of this system as time goes on.

I just hope that by the elections in 2014, this has sunk in real good with the average voter. However, big media has been brilliant in keeping the problems with Obamacare from seeming like it is Obama or the Democrat’s fault.

Since I know you know  Can you break it down for us computer simpletons into what a realistic timeframe and how big of a Charlie Foxtrot that is to unravel? To the layman it sounds like an almost insurmountable task… Kinda like looking up at Mt. Kilimanjaro and saying “**** it, let’s go grab a beer instead…”

Windows 95 had 15 million lines of code… but it actually worked.

To me 5 million lines of code in something that doesn’t work is like saying you have a car but it simply lacks a drive train so you need to manufacture that.

It’s the thing everyone needs that you can’t simply just take care of yourself. If enough of the health care infrastructure is damaged, and enough people are paying more than they can afford, it puts the government in an enormous position of power. Push the system to the point of collapse, and then “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”

“We tried, with the Affordable Care Act, to fix our broken healthcare system, but it just wasn’t enough…” I can see it being the overall plan.

The best case scenario is that the private sector figures things out and makes it work. Perhaps they can see the writing on the wall.

:sarcastic: Stop it! stop it! You’re killing me!! That is hilarious!! Do you know how many times (each being a multi-year effort) the IRS tried to have their tax program rewritten? Hahahaha!!

Govt writing/contracting for workable computer code is nearly impossible. for one thing, to write the code they need to have the specifications, and to document those you need to have someone who understands exactly how it should be processed. How many people do you think actually understand the entire system? One component? Making the dangerous assumption that someone might actually be able to write accurate specs for the code, then you have to hope and pray that the contract did not go out to the low ball bidder who lied about what they will deliver and when.

Multi-year computer projects are extremely difficult to manage and takes laser focus, creative organization into loosely coupled modules, and strict project team discipline to execute and deploy on time. That would be opposite day for typical government projects.

While the website rollout has undoubtedly been a total debacle, I don’t think it will be the kiss of death for Obamacare. The other shoe yet to drop is a massive personal data breach, which seems inevitable given the reported complexity of the software involved, the ineptitude of the contractors performing the job, and the immense pressure being applied by the administration to “fix this thing . . . NOW!”

A cludgey website is an embarrassment and creates a lack of confidence. A data breach will destroy whatever minimal trust the public might have in the system, initiate a myriad of legal challenges to the mandate for individuals to enroll, and grind the entire process to a halt.

And given the immense political and financial stakes hinging on the outcome, don’t think there aren’t a ton of folks looking for (or creating) a backdoor to sabotage Obamacare.

Do you know anyone that has made it in and signed up and found LOWER costs for coverage?

I know two people that got through and they said the rates they were quoted were crazy high and the deductibles were just as high.

I think THAT alone will help sink Obamacare…but it will take time.

That helps put it into perspective, thanks.

I get that… I just didn’t know what would be realistic in terms of code writing, project management, ETA kinda thing. I’m a luddite.

It’s the easiest way to control a submissive populace. First it will start with tanning beds to control increasing risk of cancer to control cost of our now socialized medicine. Next obesity, etc. Whats left of our freedom will be legislated away. Don’t forget the mental health diagnosis that can make anything a mental disorder. Read history to confirm that was done before. The history is there. Last year there was one added, government opposition disorder.

The insurance industry will make big money on this system in the beginning then they will slowly bail out of the healthcare end of the insurance industry as the cost of insuring everyone with pre-existing conditions takes its toll on their profits.

That was the “deal” they made…they make their big money on the front end then get out before it implodes. Much like the mortgage brokers did with sub prime mortgages.

Govt then gains what it wanted to begin with, insurance moves on to other areas and the average citizen is left holding the bag.

…nice, huh?

It’s called “Oppositional Defiant Disorder”.

It’s used as justification to break children of thinking freely in some cases. Under the guise of “misbehaviour”

Just look at the political abuse of psychiatry in the fromer Soviet Union. They used it as a tool to suppress dissent and eliminate political opponents.

Even Religious faith was determined to be a form of mental illness that needed to be “cured”.

Scary & dangerous stuff…

One of my sisters is in the mental health industry and I can tell you it is ****ed. The people “treating” the mentally unhealthy are almost as mentally unhealthy, sometimes more so than those they seek to “treat”.

Having conversations with her & her co-workers scares the shit out of me most of the time. Truly disturbing shit goes down on a daily basis and is funded by the taxpayers in a LOT of cases.

Obamacare was one of the worst mistakes we let happen in our history as a country. It WILL cause so much damage to individuals, society and the nation as a whole on several levels.

The media will blame any short comings of the ACA on the “obstructionist Republicans” and the sheep will eat it up unfortunately- and then go back to watching dancing with the stars with head frimly placed in sand until it all unravels and is too late to do anything about.

The charade continues- welcome to the downfall of the last bastion of liberty/United States of America; hold on and enjoy the ride.
