"On Wings of Eagles" about Ross Perot and Iran

So, buddy of mine who served with Dick’ Meadows and Bull Simons in White Star (he’s mentioned Meadows book as “Sparky”) recommended that book, and wow! I vaguely knew that Perot was involved in getting some of his people out of Iran, I had no idea how involved it was, and how involved he was in it. I have a whole new respect for Perot. That guy had brass balls the size of well, TX. He brings in none other than Col Simons to run the op, gets a group of guys from his own company to risk it all, and they hatch a crazy plan to rescue two his people being held hostage in Iran when the place went to chit under Islamic rule. The book is a slow burn, but once it gets going, it’s amazing considering it’s all true. Funny thing is, I vaguely recall watching the made for TV movie about it with Burton Lancaster of all people, which is free on YT. I made sure not to go look up the details of the event before reading the book because I didn’t want to ruin the experience not knowing how it turned out, and I’m glad I did! Nothing like that would ever happen today, certainly no “leader” of a big company would step up in the way Perot did to save his people.
